Is it true that it'll take at least a year or two to completely clear the face of facial hair?

I would keep going to my local electrolysis office for hour sessions. I can't quite count how many i've had but i've had four in August and probably a few before that. I tell them i want the areas below the corners of my lip treated and that's where they've worked but unfortunately i still can't noticeably see the empty spaces yet.

I've been Googling for how long it takes for facial hair to be completely removed by electrolysis... 2 to 5 years! :o I do remember though my electrolysis technician said a few years at my consultation.

The thing was... I wanted to have my facial hair and stubble completely taken care of, then have my FFS afterwards. I don't know if I'm patient enough to wait a few more years to have my FFS. I was hoping to have that done while i'm still young. But whatev's.
They say identity theft is a crime. Well, needless to say, a crime has been committed. My identity has been stolen. No, no one knows my social security number or has my credit card. I'm walking around in the wrong body. I'm wearing a costume which I cannot remove... and the only way I can remove that costume, is through surgery

Hi Annaiyah!

One year is indeed a minimum for any modality (including laser). I've been doing electrolysis at home (1-3 times a week for 1 to 4 hours at a time) since short after beginning HRT (~8 months ago) and I also did 5 sessions of laser so far. My cheeks and the areas around my lips are almost clear (so the areas which are the most immediately visible) but under my jaw not yet. The under jaw is not accessible to me to electrolyse and my wife feels too intimidated by that area. So for beginning of december I have scheduled a 4 hour session of intensive electrolysis at a clinic in Antwerp (I live in Belgium) with a pain pump (they use a derivative of morphine and it is the patient who titrates the flow, which is capped of course). I hope that the 15/02/2018 I will be ready for my FFS, as the surgery is already scheduled! I'm sure in the US there are also clinics offering intensive electrolysis with pain-pump?

Good luck!

Sarah

The time line is probably for financial reasons. If you can go every day then it won't take that long and my tech cleared the bottom of my neck about 1 inch high across the whole neck. In 2 sessions. Granted that's only one stage of growth and will take more to be complete. But I can see easily where she has been. When I get the discounted treatments at the electrolysis school. I can't tell where they have been. So maybe its experience. My tech taught at the school so she is fast and efficient with a lot of years experience.

I am getting my facial hair removed now. I am on the 2nd treatment of laser hair removal. It will take me 10 treatments with 2 months in between treatments. So overall time frame for me is 20 months to have complete removal except for gray or blonde hairs. Which I have some gray and have seen some control but, still have some. I will have to do electrolysis after to get the strays that remain.

I've been getting zapped with a candela laser every 6 weeks since February and recently increased my face to every 3. I never had a ton a facial hair to begin with but nearly 5 months if sessions left and my face is nearly bare. Almost all of the remaining stubble is the bits of blond hair that doesn't take to the laser as well and all of it is much more soft than previously. I used to have noticeable stubble by the 12 hour mark after a shave and now I have to scrutinize to see anything by the two day mark (if I can resist shaving that long)

Effectiveness is going to be determined by hair thickness, color, texture, etc.
Up and away and off I go to lose my mind and find my soul.

Judging from your avatar, you've got quite a job ahead of you!   :D
I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

Started HRT April 17, 2019.

If you have a fair amount of beard, a rough guess would be about 200 hours more or less. There is a point where you stop shaving and you get a complete clearing each time you go in. Your appointment also get spaced out more at the end so the last 20 or so appointment may be spread out over a couple of years. When you are starting, the best way to get cleared is to put in as many hours each week as you can afford and tolerate. That will get you to the end game much sooner.

Hey, we cats have fur, not hair. I'd never want to remove the fur anywhere on my body. I'd be one weird-looking cat if i did. *purrs loudly*

 :D

I have taken about 18 months having had a combination of laser and Electrolysis weekly not always but mostly an hour...about (40 hours total) with somewhere under 10 hours to start extending visits from weekly. I shave after Electrolysis each week and now that is just about enough to take me through to my next session. It is really difficult to tell...I was breezing along until we have had to keep clearing my top lip over and over again. Each time we think it is done a new crop of hairs show up..very light but still there and annoyingly repetitive, my lip will run out of hair follicles eventually.... Good Luck hope it goes well

100 hours of electrolysis and 6 laser sessions and my cheeks are clear.  Upper lip is about 70 percent reduced and jawline and neck only has a scattering of blonde hairs.  Most of the dark hair is on the sides of my chin.  I still shave everyday for psycological reasons (feeling the blonde stubble is dysphoria causing even if i cant see it) but can skip a day and no one notices.  My shaving time is dramtically reduced and I have no shadow anymore.  I am taking a break from hair removal for financial reasons but my face is about 85 percent clear now.

Hair grows in three phases - Anagen, catagen and telogen. At any given time, less than one third of hair follicles have hair in them which can be exploited to kill the follicle and remove the hair.

Around 12-18 months is a pretty realistic timeframe for complete removal, depending on what approach is needed - which in turn depends on hair colour.

My transition is pretty much completed. My facial and body hair removal was finished after about 18 months. I had 52 sessions of laser on my face and about 50 hours of electrolysis.

In the early days, I was getting laser on my face (for the dark hairs) every two weeks and electrolysis (for the few light hairs) every four weeks.

Towards the end, I was down to laser every 6-8 weeks.

We are really lucky to have a thriving trans community where I live. Most of my friends took about the same amount of time as me, although the time needed to complete facial hair removal seems to be shorter for people who have been on hormones for a few years when they begin removal.

My electrolygist works exclusively with trans patients. She says the textbook estimates that it is 250 hours for full facial hair removal, spread over 12 months.

That all assumes you have the cash to pay for treatments as required.

Hope this helps !
