Hair grows in three phases - Anagen, catagen and telogen. At any given time, less than one third of hair follicles have hair in them which can be exploited to kill the follicle and remove the hair.
Around 12-18 months is a pretty realistic timeframe for complete removal, depending on what approach is needed - which in turn depends on hair colour.
My transition is pretty much completed. My facial and body hair removal was finished after about 18 months. I had 52 sessions of laser on my face and about 50 hours of electrolysis.
In the early days, I was getting laser on my face (for the dark hairs) every two weeks and electrolysis (for the few light hairs) every four weeks.
Towards the end, I was down to laser every 6-8 weeks.
We are really lucky to have a thriving trans community where I live. Most of my friends took about the same amount of time as me, although the time needed to complete facial hair removal seems to be shorter for people who have been on hormones for a few years when they begin removal.
My electrolygist works exclusively with trans patients. She says the textbook estimates that it is 250 hours for full facial hair removal, spread over 12 months.
That all assumes you have the cash to pay for treatments as required.
Hope this helps !
