I was asked by my best friend to be the officiant at his wedding. Him and his fiancee said I could wear whatever I feel comfortable wearing. I'm leaning toward a pants suit. I haven't worn a dress yet, but I'm open to it. Worst case senario, I don't mind getting fitted for the same tux as the guys since I know they're cool with me getting dolled up with hair and makeup.

Anyway, I'm 6'3 and 190 lbs. I never shop outside of casual clothing stores, so I have no idea where to go for something a little more wedding friendly.

One possible place to look is Long Tall Sally. If I had the place to wear it, I would be running my credit card bill up there. If you decide not to buy there, it may give you some ideas as to what you should look for.

You cannot wear white, but it can have white on it.

Where is it?
Church? Park? Beach?

What season is it?

If they are fine with you wearing what you want (eg, dress, men or women clothing) maybe go shopping in order - Dress, pant suit (not really a fan for weddings, just try a play suit or even jump suit), then look into more unisex then finally menish.

Make up, go light, natural, hair, GET IT DONE, nails basic colours.

If you have time, go shopping for a dress to see how they look on you, you never know.
Play suits & jump suits are a much better look than a pant suit though

Find out from the bride as to what colors she is having at her wedding. Then, get a classy pant suit with those colors. If the bride chooses to not have a color scheme, then it would be up to you to decide what colors you will wear.

Find out if there is any sort of theme in the decorations or wedding party and roll with it.  I have to walk my sister down the aisle this Saturday and be the ring bearer.  My dress is a suit with skeleton hands, top hat, bow tie and skull mask.  She's doing a day of the dead themed wedding,..

Women normally (Not always) wear a dress to a wedding, I have been to 3 weddings as a girl,including my own and must women wore dresses.


however I think you should wear the pants suit, the reason.. you have never worn a dress before and I don't think its a good idea to use a such a public event to try this. If you want a more feminine look, maybe a shoe with a high heel. Again if you have never worn heels before, then stick a very low heel or a pair of wedges as these shoes are easier to walk in. Walking in higher heels takes practice... and lots of it.

Your hair, go get your hair done in a female style

Wearing make-up, don't go over board.. Women normally wear lighter makeup during the day and darker makeup at night. Maybe wear some nail polish.. even if its just a clear polish.

And Enjoy the wedding

Go for the dress.

My friend and I have joked about this scenario a lot, but I'd say wear what you want. If you're partial to suits, wear a suit, if you like dresses wear a dress. The important thing is that you're with your friend on an important day. I don't think much else matters.

In my personal opinion, tall women look pretty sick in tuxedos. I've always been more of a suit gal, myself.

I wish I could recommend some places you could shop. Crap.

I was nervous about wearing a dress to special events. At my Mom's funeral, I did, and that was the first time a lot of family saw the new me. Of course I was nervous, but by now I am used to being nervous about 'firsts' as a woman. You get over the feeling soon enough. I would say, decide what you want to do, then make it happen. Life is too short, make a nice memory for yourself. You might consider a skirt if the dress thing is too much. Most important, have fun!

If you have a couple weeks, Sumissura makes custom suits and dresses ordered on line and eShakti does similar.  Doesn't matter that you're 6'3.
