That isn't exactly how I did it. First cell phones hadn't been invented yet and radio phones couldn't text. What's done is done so we will wait to see how it turns out.

Know that everyone here is pulling for you! I went through coming out to my father just last night, it was truly a terrifying moment, and no matter how you felt you needed to go about it the important part is you found the courage to do so. People used to mail letters(I read one person's story who did it fairly recently even), texting is just the modern equivalent.

Don't get nervous around a therapist. Tell your story your way and answer any question the therapist might ask. They are there to understand how you feel and help you with any problems you might have.

Congrats, they say it's hardest to coke out to those closest.  I haven't yet, but have already struggled with it.  It must feel great right now.

10/11/18 - out to the whole world.  100% friends and family support.
11/6/17 - came out to sister, best day of my life
9/5/17 - formal diagnosis and stopping DIY in favor if prescribed HRT

From other posts on Susan's Place, it does seem that fathers tend to take the news better than mothers.  My parents always knew about my cross dressing but it was my mother who was very critical about it.  My father was embarrassed by my behaviour but with hindsight, I think that he might have taken it reasonably well if I had permanently transitioned when he was alive.  My mother was a different matter.

My father did panic when I told him I was planning to return to Britain, though.  He was worried that I would become a prostitute!  I don't know where he got that idea (I was an analyst programmer at the time), although he correctly guessed that I was secretly planning to live full time as a woman.  As it happened, my parents also returned to Britain and I did not transition.
