Hey all, I'm Eva. I am a 27 year old trans-female. I've known for what feels like forever (since I was like 5 which is like a billion in dysphoria years) that I was female. I started hormones in March and changed my name legally in September. I'm currently employed in a grocery store deli, but will be switching to super part time in a few months when my son is born to be a full time mommy (my fiancé is fine with sharing the title)! I'm having trouble with my ex cause she keeps telling my older son (6 years old) that I'm disgusting and trying to get him to hate me. He doesn't hate me, but he misgenders me a lot on purpose. The kicker is that she had a bunch of trans friends before I came out but apparently I'm the only "bad one." She's teaching him to hate trans people just because she doesn't like me.

The majority of my time is spent writing. I would like to develop video games eventually if I can find others with a passion for it. I'm very ambitious but dysphoria and depression have stunted my ability to actually follow through on anything. I'm hoping I can turn that around and actually start making progress with my life since I kinda feel better now having been on the meds for 8 months.

Anyway, sorry to be a downer, that's pretty much my constant state and has been for forever. I'm glad to finally be trying to connect to people.

Welcome Eva.  This is a safe place to talk and vent but i would still suggest that you also find a counselor that you can process things with.

Sorry about your ex.  That is a tricky path.

Dysphoria and considering options takes time and energy.  Take care of your self to keep that energy up so you don't have the "downer" time so much

Hi. Well, I was planning on doing it next year but a few things came up. First, I ended up "developing" really quickly. It made me super noticeable. Every one can tell I'm trans without a question. My face has not caught up with everything else, sadly. I figured if everyone is going to know, I might as well jump in head first and just be me. The second part was that I only ever want my real name, Eva, to show up on my sons birth certificate. If I waited until next year which was my plan, it would mean amending his birth certificate too. There's enough paperwork to deal with during name change, why add more? I also plan to be back in college (online) starting in the new year, and I am starting at a new place so I figured I wanted to only go as myself and not as "him."

The court was surprising too because I was told that I would have to file everything, wait for 3-4 months for a date which may be another month or two out. So when I applied at the beginning of August, it was with the assumption it would happen in November. Well, I guess the court where I am is right on the ball because before I even stepped out the door they had a date set for me for the next week...I told them it was too soon (I didn't have anything nice to wear) and they pushed it out another two weeks. It was a whirlwind of stuff but I'm glad I did it. It's simplifying my life and making me happier since everyone I meet now will only know this name.

(Sorry for the novel. I like writing a lot.)

That's really great, to have that on your son's birth certificate is definitely a huge thing!
