I just flew home from Dallas and found a letter received today from the local county court. I am now officially Tia Anne Blake Smith! Hurray, now I am certifiably real.....WOW, and I am crying for some silly reason! My path has been a short one compared to many, just over 32 months from the first time ever trying on a skirt or having any idea about gender identity to being fully, totally, completely me; and yes, I am stupidly, ecstaticly happy.

Dear Ms. Tia Anne Blake Smith,

I am also ecstatically happy for you! And as you know, I'm not far behind, at least in the name change department. I expect to see my papers on Monday or Tuesday. Of course, you're much further along in other aspects, but I'll catch up some day on those, too!

Warm congratulations, sister!

Stephanie

Thank you all, I must admit that that was the kind of news that is a joy to share with family. And what better family than those on Susan's Place.

So many good feels. Lemme add to it. I got to go out again as myself and it was even better. One of the trans men defended me from one evil stare. LMAO! That someone was staring at me as I was making my exit and my friend flipped him off, making that person get all startled. I felt so happy to have such a great friend. Also, I got my transition plan drafted and signed by the medical team, here at Lackland. When I start HRT, I'll be using the patch, taking spiro, and finasteride. I hope my commander approves it fast and my PCM doesn't take her time with it. More to come. :)

I'm actually having one of those rare days where I feel ok, not great, but ok. The regular top ups of Earl Grey tea and (strangely) listening to emo music which was regularly on my playlist 5-6 years ago is helping.

I'm also feeling really surprised when I look in the mirror and there's a male body looking back at me. I feel completely female in my mind

Later this morning I'll be picking up two pairs of reading glasses that are obviously feminine. I've been waiting two weeks and can't wait to wear them. One pair is a soft red, the other black.
I'm sure the woman in me will be very very happy :)

I'm spending two full days with my parents (mid 80's) and they are doing so well on gender/name.  I'm shocked.

Okay, the occasional "he" in the middle of a sentence and the one or two slips of "<old name>" from my mom.  BUT overall a very positive experience.  Although we don't talk about the transition at all.

Sounds pretty cool, Denise! But I kinda wish you hadn't dragged that cold weather they're forecasting down with you.

See ya on Sunday!

I don't have them in hand yet, and probably won't for a few more days since I'm using an online pharmacy (so, so much cheaper), BUT MY HRT PRESCRIPTION IS BEING SENT IN RIGHT NOW!

I was in a pretty bad depressive spell lately waiting on everything to be sorted out, but now I'm a flying high again! I have this amazingly warm feeling just thinking about it. A little nervous too, but mostly the warm fuzzies.

Very cool parents, Denise!

I was similarly impressed with my parents-in-law.  Both were in their 90s when we told them.  They got my name right from day one, and only made a couple of slips with pronouns.  My MIL has since passed away, but my FIL makes a point of calling me by name if I answer the phone when he calls.

Transfered all the car titles to my new name.  The lady at the licensing place was ...are you serious, 9 titles?  Yeah but some of these are pretty cheap vehicles.  1970 Ford truck, paid $450 USD (previous owner didn't know how to adjust the ignition - I fixed it in 10 minutes and drove it home).  And another 1970 F250 with 4 wheel drive, paid fifty bucks more for that one.  An ancient Suburban, band rig, driven about once every 4 months.  An odd micro-car, Subaru 360.  Etc.

She got quite a laugh out of the license plate on my Fiat convertible.  It is grey with license plate 50SHADE

This story is so fun.  I can well imagine all that paperwork, but getting you'd true name on each one, must have felt better each time!

I gotta say these threads are probably my favourite, at least right now.  I can share in others joy, even if I am joyless myself.
