I haven't started transtion yet but right now I'm having periods and I can't handle them and I want this pain to go away. I hate everything about my body.

I suggest that you discuss this with your doctor as some of the birth control pills may solve this problem until you are ready to start on T. It would most likely be a progesterone based pill with little or no estrogen.

Yeah, periods suck. Mine have always been really bad - PMS/PMDD (mostly stomach related - nausea and the like), horrible cramping, very heavy. I would miss school, and later on in life i would call in to work, that's how bad it got. I was on birth control for a while, which helped immensely, but had to go off it for medical reasons - that was a tough couple of years as i couldn't do anything about the many problems i had related to my cycle AND the dysphoria it caused.

Talk to your doctor about birth control - pills, shots, implants.... there is bound to be something they could recommend or prescribe that will help. Even if you are young. I was in ninth/tenth grade when i started birth control (purely for the PMS/PMDD symptoms). There are estrogen free options as well as your standard estrogen based ones, if you don't want to take estrogen. It would be better than nothing until you start T, if that's your end goal.

You don't have to suffer through periods. Some of the options available will make it so you can go up to three months without a period (that's the one i was on for years) - some may even end them entirely for as long as you are on them (like depo). Speak to your doctor about it. It's worth a shot.

  Hi  berkeleyjackson4,

I'm Laurie, I see that you are new here. So please let me say, Welcome To Susan's Place! Come on in and take a good look around.  Perhaps I can even get you to hop on over to the Introductions Thread and  create a post to tell us a little bit more about yourself so we can get to know you a little better and greet you properly. I'll add some links and information below that can help you get more out of our site. Please take time to become familiar with them especially the RED one as we are always getting questions that are answered there.
