Hi Cindy,
That is worth considering; thanks.

Hi all,

I have to share this. A few weeks ago I was buying a new coat from Eddie Bauer. I was presenting as usual.(only at work and with extended family that I don't). I was leaning over the counter dealing with the card machine and about to sign my name. The woman ringing me out asks, "Who does your hair? I love the color." I just kind of laughed it off and she had to re scan my card. Then said "Really. Is it a secret? I really love the color so I want to know who does it?"

I smiled and generally told her the truth: " Well, it's a wig. I lost most of my hair a while ago." She leans forward and says, "Really?? It's really good and I still love the color".

I beamed for the rest of the day. ;D

It's snowed in my part of the world for the first time in years. Snowed and stuck that is. There is a beautiful thick blanket covering everything. I'm sat on the sofa having my breakfast looking out at the world in my favourite nightie and some leggings and I feel so free to let myself be the woman I am. I think I might have to dance around the living room for a bit...! And have a cuddle with my dog. She thinks snow is very much overrated.

My day starts early so my 'happy today' is always yesterdays.

a few times during casual conversation I was referred to as 'her' 'she' 'girl' ... by my wife ...  :)
I left the door open, only a few came through. such is my life.

ok, I have a 2nd 'today' happy.

One of the women here at work that's helping me along gave me an spontaneous quick hug today and said, you look very handsome. Then looked and asked, "or should I say pretty?" I simply replied, "there are handsome women and pretty men, pick the word that fits."

About the hug, there was no question of it being a simple 'nice to see you, friend' hug. To me it meant an acceptance at a more equitable level. Were it not, or had it been before any of my changes, it simply would not have happened.  I found it very affirming.

I had a wonderful catch up with one of my oldest friends. We caught up over Carribbean curry and rum cocktails. I'm close to telling her I'm secretly a woman but not quite there yet. I know she's onboard and she's knows I'm very different!

I'm 1 step closer to moving out to the southwest! Let's just hope tomorrow goes well and everything should turn out great. It puts me within a day's drive of my family out there, which are the ones I care for the most.

A woman who'd been in before passed my desk as she came in to my workplace, stopped and did a double take. I just smiled. A little later she came back on her way out, stopped and said to me: "I'm sorry, I had to do a double take. I was just shocked when I saw you. You look so different, you truly look beautiful. I can see in your eyes that you must have a kind, gentle soul".

I'm still having trouble not breaking into tears. She completely made my day (if not my week!). I thanked her profusely and told her how much happier I am now. I can say for certain my soul used to be anything but kind and gentle, but maybe now....

Wow! Congratulations, Sarah.

I can see it, too. Let that soul shine.

So I went to the bank yesterday and was unable to open a new account because my id photo was so different that they did not believe I was me. Well that led me to go to DMV today and not only get a new license with a photo that looks like me but I also had the gender marker change form all set and ready to go. I was going to wait until my name change went through but figured why not just do it now? So in the eyes of the state of Pennsylvania, I am now Female! Wow I told the guy who handed me my ID (who was super nice and totally flirting with me) that he completely made my day. Oh my goodness what a feeling seeing that F on my license! Suddenly TSA seems much less of a concern.

Lol, yes airport security is WAAAAY easier with an updated ID.  Congrats.

It's funny, I have never had an issue with TSA except that my photo was 100# heavier and didn't look like me AT ALL. But once past the gatekeeper I've never had an issue. I was wearing some cargo capris this weekend and got the patdown - by a female agent, but I don't really know if my ease is due to my TSA PRE+ Global Entry or just because TSA has had it beaten into them. Or both.

My experience is that the only really vigilant people were the check in attendants at the airline check in stations.  Even though I was male failing hard, and looked nothing at all like my ID the TSA never really batted an eye at it.  I got a lot of "this looks nothing like you" from the airline attendants.
