I can't remember what I spent on clothes prior to transition it's been so long ago, but I'd say very little, but I know from being married and living with a man for nearly 8 years it's much more expensive and higher maintenance living as a woman.
Hubby has a very small wardrobe, 4 pairs of shoes, that includes 1 pair of trainers, 1 suit, a few shirts, few pairs of pants and jeans.
I've a huge walk in wardrobe, it's enormous, over 40 pairs of shoes, pull out drawers for underwear, nightdresses etc, shelving and closets for blouses, tops and skirts, in the hanging area I have nearly 300 hangers in use for all my dresses, all sorted into summer dresses, evening dresses and party dresses, hubby has a few pairs socks that last for ages and gets hundreds of wears out of them, I'm lucky if I get a week's wear out of a pair of nylons or tights, sometimes I might only wear them once if they get a bad run, everytime I go shopping I always get a pack of tights, hubby never buys socks, they last for months, he doesn't understand shoes and clutch bag matching a dress color, he just rolls his eyes, and that only clothes, don't get me going on nails, hair and makeup, yes you do definitely spend more on clothes and general maintenance being a woman.
