Today at work I was listening to music on my phone and my co-worker joked about my listening to a song or two that are more popular with the ladies than with the guys.  She jokingly stated that my inner girl liked that music.  She doesn't know I'm trans nor does anyone else at work.  I've never come out to anyone.  If only she knew I really do have an inner girl!  I wonder what she'd think if she knew my inner girl was real and was a Britney Spears fan!!!

I feel like I drop hints at work all the time and no one ever picks up on it!

Even before I started physically transitioning the women at work told me they felt like they were talking to their girlfriend when talking with me. Its just the way I am.

I got told I walked like a girl. I was never initiated with the whole male bonding thing at work, can't think why

I don't have coworkers at my job, is it like really exciting to be 'covert' in the workplace but feel like people already accept you as you see yourself? It seems like it could be really stressful, too, but fun!

That sounds so uplifting, I'm glad you have that at your work!

At work I presented as male but my colleagues obviously suspected something.

An early example was a female colleague saying
"From now on, I'll call you Manly D...".

I said
"I'd rather you didn't.  Some people might think that you are being sarcastic."

She replied
"Do you think I wouldn't be?"

During my next job, the ladies called me "Nana" because I allegedly looked like Nana Mouskouri.  If it was just me and women in an office, a male colleague would say "Cheerio, ladies" when he left the room.

At my last job, a female colleague came right out and asked me whether I ever wore women's clothes.  I was flustered and replied "If I did, I wouldn't tell you." 

I think that I was wasting my time and hurting myself by presenting as a male at work.  However, most of my life was not spent in modern Britain but in very conservative countries in an even more conservative past.  Also, my mother, whom I loved deeply, said that she despised me after I was recognised while wearing women's clothes in public.

And me too!

I can recall working at my office in 1983 and someone commenting (I suspect half seriously half jokingly) you go home and put on a dress, don't you? I just smiled. Later I went home and dressed of course!

I can recall working in my office around 1999 and someone commenting "I think you are something in between, aren't you. Again I just smiled!

Occasionally colleagues picked up on my mannerisms.

I retied a couple of years ago.

So perhaps more of our friends/acquaintances/colleagues assume things and many times they happen to be right!

If I could be myself 24 hours a day I would.  I'm in my true female form full time at home, but outside of the house I present as male; not because I want to, but because I have yet to come out to anyone.  Only recently did I come out to myself much less than anyone else.  While I present as male outside of the home I do wear Danielle's underwear full time.  I also pee sitting down full time too.  So while I might be accepted as male in society, my inner girl is still with me.
