I was prescribed oral Estradiol and have been swallowing it. Some places say absorbtion is better sublingually, but a pharmacy sight said that since it is intended oral it can cause uneven dosing. Does anyone have any anecdotes about if one way worked better or if I should avoid sublingual usage?

Either way, for me, personally, it made no difference so I took it orally.
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

I asked my endocrinologist about it and he said the pills were made to swallow. I also read the instructions and it explicitly says that. I don't think sublingual will make a difference.
Latina :) I speak Spanish, English and a bit of Portuguese.

My doctor said I could take it whatever way made me comfortable. I settled in on buccal (between the cheek and gum). I use the left side in the morning and the right side at night.

I have taken the oral estrogen pills both ways.  Keep in mind that it might affect some people differently.  But for me, I could feel the effects sooner if I let the pill dissolve under my tongue, and the effects were more noticeable.  The surprising thing was after taking it this way for a while, I went in for my lab work and my estrogen was sky high.  I informed my doctor how I had taken it and was told not to do that.  At first my doctor wanted to cut me back to a small fraction of the original dosage, but I promised not to take it sublingual again and she left the prescription unchanged.  I will say that I think the effects were more even if I swallowed it.  I've since changed to injections and that is now my preferred method.  It's more costly, but it just seems to work better for me.   Good stuff.

This was why I was wondering. I didn't want to absorb to well and jump the tracks on my doc's plans. Thanks to everyone for responding <3

Sublingual, how I take it, bypasses the first elimination in liver, as it absorbs directly from mucous membrane. This results higher peak value sooner, and according to some studies, there is slight increase in the total dose due to the fact, that the first elimination via liver is not there.

I doubt that in the end there is much difference, but I prefer sublingual, because I can feel, that something is happening. Just psychological thing for me.

If the prescription you receive is for uncoated tablets, then they should dissolve very rapidly with sublingual use. If the tablets have a sugar coating then sublingual take a very long time and you will be better off with swallowing the tablets.
