Honestly, I don't see why you wouldn't age like cis people of the same gender as your HRT-self.  I would guess that its not the gender between your legs but the hormones in your system that make you age like your cis-counterparts.

Anyone else care to chime in?

That was generally what I was thinking but couldn't find anything to back it up, I'm surprised it's not been talked about more

I asked the supervising endo about this since there was some "freaking out" being done by some in online circles about the effects of testosterone "ageing" people. No doctor has confirmed there's much to the rumour. HRT has effects on the systems in the body, but if you mean physically ageing someone's looks or lifespan, not heard anything of it. Anything feminizing is probably going to make a person look slightly younger anyway.

What happens when you age without HRT? Nothing good if you're trans.

Here is one of my age peers who transitioned in the mid 70's Still gorgeous at 64. Caroline Cossey. I remember seeing her for the first time on the Mike Douglas show. I remember Mike Douglas being awestruck by the woman he saw before him.

Caroline has been one of my biggest inspirations. She not only impressed Phil but she impressed me. And it really has nothing to do with being a Bond girl. It's her story that inspires and her moxy to fight back.

From what I have seen, a lot of trans women who start HRT early enough age gracefully, and may look younger than their chronological age.

I started HRT as a 17 year old in 1972.

I am now a 63½ year old and I've been lucky. Most people think I'm around 50 something and the guy I've been seeing for nearly four months is 47 (he knows I'm 16 years older). Yes, we age like our natal counterparts... gravity is a constant for all of us. Ask my boobs - they know this is true!  :)

(sorry, I don't do faces)

I started around age 25, and am now 52. My profile pic is only a few months old. You can see how I have aged. By the way, my body looks younger than my face.

For everybody who is not taking HRT of any kind, your hormone levels peak in the late teens and early 20's, then slowly decrease as we age. This is the normal experience and is primarily responsible for the changes in our appearance as we age.

It is really hard to make a generalized statement about how HRT makes us look different, but many people will notice significant changes depending on which hormone you are taking. If you are on Estradiol, you will appear younger than your real age. If you are on Testosterone, you will maintain muscular strength and appearance, but not really a youthful appearance. This has more to do with the results of HRT than any age reversing. Those of us who started HRT later in life, see the changes more than someone who started as a teen.

From my picture, you can see how I look. I am 68 and I have been on HRT for 3 & 1/2 years. Many people say that I look like I am in my 50's. Thank you very much.  ;)

There are other factors that affect aging. Sun exposure and smoking tobacco are the biggest ways to age faster.

I asked this question before I started HRT. My therapist and advisor, Dr Carl Bushong, he has treated TGs for over 40 years. We are basicallly menopausal women who take a hrt treatment for the rest of our lives. Those who are post op and on hrt will eliminate cancers of the reproductive organs. There are some dangers but those are similar to women on hrt. Generally, for mtf and especially those who are health concious and exercise daily, hrt becomes our fountain of youth.

I am 70 years old, run 5k in 28 mins, do meditation and yoga daily. I am at peace, love my life and blessed to live 2 lives in a lifetime.
When we first start our journey the perception and moral values all dramatically change in wonderment. As we evolve further it all becomes normal again but the journey has changed us forever.

I'm only 43 at this point but I noticed a big difference after about 6 month on hrt. It really reduced the wrinkles on my face and generally made my skin a lot healthier. It also stopped mpb and has bought back a little of what I lost. My hair is still quite thin on the top but better than it was.

The before photo was when I was exercising a lot and saw a lot of sun. But still the difference visually that hrt has made has been large. In addition the prostrate problems I was having are just gone. HRT really feels like a fountain of youth so far. Many of my colleagues have asked what my secret is but few are willing to actually go that far to look younger. :)

I'm lucky.  Even before I started transitioning, I looked younger than my actual age. [emoji57]

Unfortunately, the only pics I have of me currently are cosplay pics from this past weekend.  I can post them if anyone is interested and asks.

Any other FTM have any before and after pics?  I'm curious.

All I know is that trans women  have a really low chance of developing breast cancer compared to cis women (and obviously, a much lower chance of getting prostate cancer, too). So that's good.

It'd be cool if hrt makes me look younger than my age (as everyone here seems to be saying). People already tell me I look 19; if I go the rest of my life like that I might start to feel like Bilbo Baggins.

Ryuichi, I like cosplay :) did you go to a con?

Holy moley on a pogo stick you all lo9k so amazing. I never cursed any of you was older than 30 maybe 40 at a push. You still look stunning!

@Ryuchi Cosplay is awesome I'd be happy to see em;) obviously I don't k ow but surely it is the same situation for ftm with aging, it seems like were all golden!

Yes, my boyfriend and I went to an anime con here on the East Coast of the US.  It was a LOT of fun!

Lets see if I can post any pics from my phone on here...I haven't really picked a pic hosting site since photobucket's ransoming of pics, so wish me luck!  *tries*

Edit: It doesn't seem like I can upload pics directly from my phone, and I have no idea which free hosting site I should use. [emoji20]

I been using Imgur, it seems to do the job and you can make it so only people with links can see em. I think there's an app on play store but the site works fine too
