Haha I'm still young in comparison only just reaching 24. But to be honest there's no way it would have ended up as dating it was just pure sex with nothing attached. She was the one who pushes initially and started going farrrr into it. I'll be honest that sort of what my plan was. I was hoping that I'd fly abroad for 12 months meet a nice girl and be able  to feel loved and no longer feel like I'm missing a part of me and then that I hoped that would be enough to keep it under control. I honestly believed that if I find love this would go away but then maybe I'm just being an idiot :(
Ah, so to be fair there's actually a lot to think about rather then just deciding to go the full way without proper thinking. To be fair my therapist did pick up that I have the all or nothing approach to life and for me if I were to transition I'd instantly think I'd have to go all the way with all the surgeries

Since you had trans feelings at a younger age, no relationship will change that. The more you put it off, the harder the dysphoria will hit.

No, unfortunately, gender dysphoria doesn't go away on its own.  It would be so much easier if it did.  The only thing that stops it is some degree of transition.  Exactly how much is something that you will need to decide as you go along.

Hi Gwen cook,
Just remember if you see a therapist there won't be any pressure to do anything you don't want to. Therapy is about exploring your deepest thoughts and issues and then using your own free will to decide on a path forward. A therapist is a facilitator for what YOU want to do.
Kindest regards, Kirsten.

@gwencook

Because of the complex nature of your past and because of your mixed feelings currently, I would advise you continue to see a therapist.

Take care,

Sonja.

Hello Gwen

I really think you should continue seeking a gender therapist in your new location and if one is not available locally, then seek online gender therapy.

I think you are most likely trans but a gender therapist would help you to explore/confirm.

A Loving relationship would not counteract GD which would only return later.

I wish you happiness for both your journeys - geographically and genderwise.

Hugs

Pamela
