Too bad, Rebis. I liked your list and could see myself in each point. It's not a list of membership qualifications, but it does seem to express the positions of a certain subset within this forum. Nero identified this group as "calm, cool, and collected" as opposed to those "whose blood runs near the surface". No one has attacked that characterization until now. We've been able to discuss politics and religion, for instance, without any bitter disputes. Another topic showed that a significant proportion among us have rejected the full transsexual option, at least for now. Anyone is welcome to post here, so no generalizations about posters could be valid. But it is because a critical number fit your list that I, for one, keep coming back.

Isn't that all you need then?  In that sentance you've made a distinction that defines a group. There's no need ( imo ) to take the term and try to whittle it down in artificial ways that end up excluding people who feel similarly. If you must attempt such though you can always make up a brand new word for androgynes who are ______ , but trying to narrow down an identification by commonalities that aren't so common serves no real purpose other than to stroke egos.

Yes and no. Yes, that's all you need to define androgynes as a group. But then again, no: it's useful to see if there are traits that are more common in this group than in some others, because that can help understand just why we are the way we are. 'Know thyself' and all that, if you will.

Personally, I think that some of the traits in the list (most notably a mild case of GID, a sense of humour, and a degree of mellowness) have contributed to my being androgyne instead of either of the binary genders -- and furthermore, some realisation of these contributing factors has helped me deal with my gender issues. On the other hand, some of the traits do not feel like me (most notably, I don't care whether people address me as my birth sex, as long as they don't make too wildly invalid assumptions based on that perceived sex). Still, that's just me, but I hope you noticed that Rebis didn't claim eir list was authoritative in any sense.

There is a trend developing, basically if they do not recognize your school they do not consider it a legitimate degree. Too many fakes.

Experience and references are the best bet these days.
I have both and self employed, no problems here, but that piece of paper would be nice.

i actually have a degree in nothing, it was a philosophy BA.

Also Rebis only posited their list as a personal response, not as cannon.

Same here, if I ever fly off the handle then it is so unexpected and so "unlike me" to be upset as to cause a problem. I've always been calm and have always been able to see most if not all sides of a situation.

It is a drag sometimes having to be the responsible person and having to clean up some kind of mess.

I know! I'm usually very calm and quiet, whereas my mum and brother (15) argue A LOT, and because they always get so irritated with each other I'm always left to be the peace-keeper and make everything happy again - which I don't really mind, and it's all fine and hunky-dory and whatever, until they get upset with each other, and *then* do something which really annoys/angers me (and I don't anger easily), 'cause then it means that to avoid World War III I have to bottle everything up rather than get angry too. It's SO ANNOYING!!!

But at least I should make a good diplomat.
