It was one of Susan's plea's for help several months back wherein she mentions how the site was running at a deficit and that she needed help that caused me to be come a monthly subscriber. I can afford a few bucks a month, and I gave what I could (mind you, my monthly budget is in the red). This resource is THAT important that my credit card bill gets a little bit bigger each month as a result.
Just about every single member here *should* be able to find something to sacrifice, (a cup of starbucks perhaps?) that would allow them to give just a LITTLE bit ($5?) to keep the lights on at Susan's. For any who truly aren't able (yes, they exist), I am not talking about you...but it just boggles my mind that some people who draw such immense benefit from this resource aren't willing to chip in. If every active member on the site gave just a few dollars it would be enough.
With not enough monthly donators stepping up, I would like to send out a huge and heartfelt OMG THANK YOU to anyone who has taken up Laurie's challenge (and especially Laurie) and not just given a FEW dollars, but hundreds...HUNDREDS of dollars! This place is worth it and so much more. It is the first time that I have seen the monthly donations go into the black. I would like to implore anyone reading this who does not donate to give something, ANYTHING to try give something back and to let Susan rebuild her reserves so she can ride out the lean months. It isn't fair to on a monthly basis let the site struggle and to compel others to give WAY MORE than their share. If you use and benefit from the site, give back to it, period.
Here's to Susan and Susans,
Julie
