RabbitSpectre

Hi.

I've been scouting for people like me in the trans community and somewhere online to make friends, but without the drama that seems to happen sometimes in these kinds of places. This place seems like maybe it has a decent amount  of members in my age group (20-40, which is a plus) and people who may have similar interests and beliefs. I guess we'll see.

I'm entirely equal-rights minded. (of course, anyone from our community better be)Yet, the age group density is important to me, as I've noticed that in the forums I've searched for things like this, those with a majority percentage of much older members tend to have issues with some of them being petty and passive-aggressive jerks to the younger members. Kinda weird it happens, honestly, but it's a concern of mine.

So I'd love a gauge of the demographics and personal thoughts on the vibe as well a genuinity of this place, from people who have been here a minute.

You'll learn a bit more about me eventually if I'm a good fit here. Best for everyone involved if I gauge that first.

Hi Rabbit,

Welcome to Susan's.  We hope you'll like the Place.

I'm a simple cd, no desire to transition.  And I'm way over on the top side of your demographics.  And I think a fair amount of us are, which may be a good thing for you -- not a lot of drama from those of us who have experienced life's ebbs and flows.

So come on in and wander around a bit.  I liked it here when I did, maybe you will also.

Hi RabbitSpectre!

I see my friend @Alaskan Danielle has already welcomed you. I'm also an official greeter, and we have a friendly competition to see who can give a warm welcome to new members the quickest. You've got to get up pretty early to beat Danielle!

Your concern about the way you've been treated on other forums is well-founded. It took a while before I found Susan's Place and realized just what a safe and welcoming place it is. Disrespect, pettiness, and small-mindedness are simply not tolerated here. The Terms Of Service that Danielle introduced you to are what we all live by, and we take them very seriously. I had no idea what goes on behind the scenes here to keep our world safe and friendly until I volunteered. There's a constant hum of activity behind the curtain to assure you don't run into the kind of stuff you've seen in other places. Our moderators are some of the best people I have ever had the privilege to know, and I'm honored to call many of them friends.

Age matters very little here except when you're looking for others with the same era-specific experiences as you. We have members from their teens into their 70s and 80s, and we're all here for the same reasons: to find help for ourselves, and to help others. I have gotten so much help here, and made so many friends (of all ages, and all over the world) that I felt I needed to give back, and so volunteered to be a greeter.

So hang out for a while, introduce yourself in the Introduction forum when you feel ready, and join in any time. We're glad you're here.

Oh, FWIW, at the beginning of September I turned 60.  ;D

That is extremely helpful, and quite warm. I wasn't expecting that! Thank you, Danielle. I can see why you have an official greeter tag under your name, you live up to it wonderfully. :)

Wow! Thanks everyone, really. ^^ I'm a little shy in expressing myself, but it means a lot, thank you!

Even if you weren't here first, you really dialed into my concerns, Steph, and it is especially nice seeing that from an older community member! You also live up to your tag very well. :)

Hey :)

We here have youngs, adults and elder people, and so far I didn't noticed any problems with that. Susans folks are nice, helpful and warm, bet you'll like them if you stay for some time ;)

Alice (nym)

Hi Rabbit,

I came here out of desperation, initially about 6 weeks ago... full of bravado. Then I had a complete gender dysphoric breakdown about 3 weeks ago. The girls here had seen it all before, probably multiple times. But they've been great. With a bit of extra from elsewhere closer to home, they've helped me pull myself back together and set me on my journey.

I've seen nothing but support regardless of age and regardless of mtf or ftm. This is a great place. Apparently I am 6 years too old for you  :P LOL... now who is being ageist  ::) but if you need a friend just give me a shout... I like to think I am down with the youth  ;D LMAO.

Anyhow, welcome... hope you find here as welcoming, helpful, and a safe place to hang out as I have found these last few days.

Take Care
