Jaime320

So hi there. I've been hanging out over in the corner here for many years. I've enjoyed following along, and finally worked up to posting. Made a rambling sorta intro in another thread. The welcoming committee from the great white north pointed me over here. Terrible with names. Sorry.

So I know I should search, but I'm feeling a bit lazy after a long day. I'll search in morning. If nobody answers, that's ok. I know the questions personal, and can trigger some folks. Warning danger will robinson. During intake last week the doctors staff was very sweet, but I felt I was answering questions the wrong way. Maybe it's me being new to talking to other people about this stuff. I could be in denial, but not much triggers dysphoria for me.  It's sorta a even keel blah. Anyway back to the question. Am I wrong for answering the pronoun preferences the way I did? Right now I don't feel strongly either way really. It's more of how I'm presenting. If I have a choice and must pick, generally it would be she/her.

If you're interested here's the other thread https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,241551.0.html.

Hey Jaime!

English isn't my native so I could miss something but I didn't noticed info about pronoun preferances sorry :) But I think you just need to choose what fits you better and use it, maybe switch it when neccessary. It's far easier in english lol, in my language most words have gender markers :D

Btw, great day you described :) Guess my turn to be green in envy hahaha :D Congratulations and welcome here :)

welcome Jamie... I am not quite sure what you are asking... perhaps this is an answer?  In my academic writing, unless it was stated, I always used gender neutral pronouns (they, them). If somebody asks me for my choice, then despite presenting male, I will choose female pronouns. It makes me feel happy and it doesn't cause any dysphoria. I tolerate male pronouns because I currently present male. I don't know how much that affected me subconsciously in the past but recently it bothers me more than it did. I hope that answers your question???

@nym

I totally get that. I light up even when a kid says mam instead. You also answered in your own way.  It seems there is no wrong our right answer to the question. It's a personal thing.  I just thought My viewpoint was in minority. Also I guess I thought well, I just jumped into the deep end.  Shouldn't I feel stronger about this? meh. I felt strong enough about it to pick up the phone and make the appointments. Maybe there's more subconscious stuff going on.
