CAIR-full Democrats

Democratic Party leaders, far too weak to resolve the Clinton-Obama primary death match, have an even more basic fear. If they lose control of their carefully choreographed media event-cum-convention, Americans will see them for what they really are: a party that is comprised of grievance groups that is far outside mainstream American politics.

The veil was lifted briefly at the 2000 Democrat national convention. All semblance of control was totally lost when gay, lesbian and transsexual delegates hooted and jeered six Boy Scouts who briefly took the stage. The lesson learned was applied diligently in 2004 when the Democrats -- even hyperliberal California Senator Barbara Boxer -- paraded their admiration for the military constantly, interrupted only when openly gay Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank took the microphone.

"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." Oscar Wilde

I don't think Republican talking points really need to be taken too seriously, because they are largely BS used to rally the base and discourage the opposition.  Just ignore the bullies for a moment.

The Democratic candidates will be fine if they spend more time affirming their own merits through their ideas and goals and less time nitpicking trivial details (that's a big turnoff and is frankly wasted energy that brings down the debate to a level conservatives thrive against) and comparing their opponent unfavorably to McCain (I'm looking at you, Hillary).  Connecting with moderates in the main election requires that they emphasize how their goals in office relate to voters... and when they deal with complicated issues like gender identity (something we around here tend to find important), it's going to take a lot of explaining, educating, and clarifying (which has to cut through the rhetoric of the opposition party), and that doesn't leave them with much spare time to cut down opponents within their party.

Used to be that people weren't even nominated until Aug before the November election.  People won.  How much more does anybody need to know about them?  Wow, in fact, I know way too much.  Its funny, sort of, that after the LONGEST campaingn in the history of American elections, that when you merge all the stats, they are more or less at a dead heat.
