Hi Emily,

I'm not sure what state you live in, but each state has different rules/regs on pharmacy techs.  Besides on the job training, some states require formal training from anything from a tech certificate program to a pharmacy tech specific associates degree.  The test is surprisingly hard and usually requires one to have a considerable amount of experience before they can sit for and pass it.  That extra training in a cert program goes a long way to help.  In your state it may be necessary before you can take the test regardless of on the job training.  You'll have to research and check those requirements out.

It's a lot for an employer to invest in someone for that role and most are going to want what they see as top notch candidates that are going to make their investment pay off.    You'd put yourself in a much better position for the opportunity by finding out what is necessary for the position and also making the effort to get into and pass a certification program if that's the type of job you want to go into.

Never rely on an employer for opportunities, training, and education.  It usually just doesn't happen.  You have to be proactive, do the research on what's required for what you want to do, and go get it.  Look at your employer's tuition reimbursement program if they have one and take advantage of it.  Mostly, be positive & proactive.  Best of luck to you!

Okay so I guess I'm unqualified for every job that isn't menial/low paying all because of my disability  :(

What do I do then to keep from ending up in the streets??

Are there any job/trade programs that don't exclude?? I need something that is disability friendly
