I've been feeling kind of guilty. Guilty that I can't keep up with everyone's comments and threads like Alaskan Danielle can. How do you do it?

I've never been an outgoing type of person, more of a wall flower type. Hence I don't do a lot of commenting here. And I only have so much time to sit at this computer.

Right now it is easier because it's winter and I can't really do so many outdoor projects. But still there are a lot that I don't read and even less that I comment on. Come summer and that will mean even less time at the computer then.

I just wanted to put out there my warmest thoughts are with everyone here who is participating in this great web forum. This isn't an easy road for us is it? My journey is different from a lot of you. But then I don't suppose any two are exactly alike. I'd like to say that there are so many kind and warm hearted people here who lend a comment, a hand, a shoulder and they are to be thanked and thanked again.

Thank you!

I also wonder how Danielle does it.

I don't think an apology is needed - the beauty of Susan's is that we can all come and go as we please and spend whatever time we have available within the cozy confines. What matters is that we are here and feel at home enough to do what is right for us and welcome those who share our journeys.

I could also say I am sorry for not spending as much time on this forum as I did a few years ago (although I do admit I could log in and stay occupied for days on end) but that could mean I would be denying the rather fulfilling life I've managed to find outside my home's four walls...

It's not difficult to keep up with all the threads if you spend 8-10 hours a day doing it. I post on threads that I feel I can contribute something to and provide greetings when the other staff members aren't on so my post rate isn't as high as it could be. On the other hand, I read 90% or more of the posts on the day the posts are made. Fortunately most week days I have from about 1PM till I crash to do this and a bit more on weekends.

I wouldn't expect most members to be able to put this much time in as they have a longer work day, more responsibilities and a transition to attend to. Use the site as much or as little as you want. The site is here to aid you and you don't need to punch a clock.

@GordonG
I was somewhat saddened to read your posting... you defintitely do not have to say you are sorry and to apologize for how often you are on the Forums and how often you post on your thread and the various threads here.

The nice thing about a site like this is that you can be involved as much or as little as you are able and as you desire.
Many members here have families to tend to and demanding jobs that may require a lot of supervised, monitored and employee focused time and are unable to be online with the Forums while at work.

I have my own self-employed business and I do not have any family anywhere close by.  My job involves a lot of computer work and I have 2 business computers at my office churning away and a 3rd personal computer online with Susan's Place and the Forums most of the day.   Being self employed and with no nearby family interactions, I find that the Forums members are my family.
I have the freedom to monitor the Forums a lot during my very long business day (many times 12-16 hour work days especially during our tax season), and because my personal computer is online most of the time I can read very many posts without the need to login and I am able to make quick replies frequently then get back to my work.

Please GordonG, do not try to compare your time on the forums to anyone else....   it is your life, your time, your employment, your commitments, etc that are paramount.   You can only do what you can do.
Spend your time here on the Forums as much or as little as you feel comfortable doing while still taking care of all of your other life endeavors and life commitments.

I really appreciate your postings on your personal thread and other postings that you make around the forums.
Whenever I look around at the new posts I will always stop and read those from you and perhaps if I have something intelligent to say I will respond with my comments.

PLEASE, again you have nothing to be sorry about!!!

Many HUGS and more HUGS
.... wishing your the best as always,
Danielle

Faith

you decide what's good for you. You took a bigger step than a lot of people do, you made an account and signed in. Some are so fearful all they can do is read what they can from the shadows.

I rarely post in other threads .. some of my contributions help, most are foot-in-mouth.
I rarely read other threads .. they trigger. I open any thread that looks Ok with great trepidation. "Will this send me over the edge?"
I tend to hide in the open in my own little corner of Susan's where I track my progress. I feel safer there. I've even left several times, had my threads locked to prevent people posting. Yet, here I am. I am always welcomed, so are you.

Gordon

I assure you have absolutely nothing to apologise for.

Read as much or as little as you feel on the day.

Comment as much or as little as you feel on the day.

This is indeed a fantastic website but we all have other commitments outside.

Hugs

You don't need to apologize.

Many posts are really for the benefit of the person doing the posting.  By thinking things through well enough to post I've learned a lot in my time on Susan's.    In my case, it isn't with my identity, but learning how society reacts to the square peg in the round hole!  So everyone's experience really helps!
