Dear Davina:
Great minds must think alike.
I just asked you about your low-carb diet on your  "Davina's diary" thread.

Wow, 3 pounds is wonderful news and great progress....
Whatever you are doing to lose weight, keep it up and keep it going!!!!

Hugs,
Danielle

Hi Davina!

Great to hear you are making progress!

I did some baking today.  Ate two servings today and froze the rest to eat at work during lunchtime.

Catch up time, I failed miserably. One thing and another and instead of losing  I have gained. Need to give myself a good talking to and watch what I eat, its lack of exercise is the main fault. Laid up with a gammy leg didnt help recently either. I know I have said this before but as soon as Christmas is out the way I do need to at least lose 20lb and then see about losing the rest.

You can do it! One of my favorite activities is swimming. You can burn a lot of calories swimming laps and it is easy on the joints.

Also for walking does wearing hiking boots help you to not hurt afterwards?

I got my weight under control by getting rid of sugar. No more pop and deserts as a regular thing. That being said for Thanksgiving  a slice of Pumkin Pie is tradition so I still enjoy it. I just don't make it a habit.

I can eat anything I want for lunch or dinner. It's just a matter of portion size. Also drink plenty of water.

The major thing is eliminating snacks. I eat lunch and dinner and no snacks. This is important because effectively that means from around 5:00pm until around noon the next day I eat nothing. This is an intermittent fasting. It's interesting but the body actually heals better if you can do something like this.

I have porridge with seeds and a few blueberries for breakfast and that keeps me going all morning with a few small tomatoes and an apple for lunch. Small 6ins dish of curry (home made so I know whats in it) for dinner.  My trouble is I cant swim and my knees are not up to walking far as well as a duff Achilles tendon on my right foot (bones have gone out of place) so cant put weight on it next day if I do to much. Need to get my body to use and not store!!

You eat real food, Davina. I went into a small grocery store and walked up and down the aisles. There was nearly no real food there, just boxes and cans of processed starch, sugar, salt, and fat.

If you can't exercise then you will have to lose weight through dieting only. It won't be fast and you cannot cheat but it's doable. You'll always have to count calories though. Mostly it just means little to no processed foods.

Here in the states if you want to eat healthy you get things around the outer edges of the store and then maybe some bottled water. Nearly everything in the center is bad for you with craveability aka addictive properties that will make you gain weight, be unhealthy and keep spending money. Avoid this stuff at all costs.

A week away with some very nice 3 course meals and a cooked breakfast so not standing on the scales this morning!!  I avoid processed food due to getting an upset tummy from them and I enjoy cooking from scratch.
