So my incompetent pharmacy decided to let me know last time I went in that my androcur prescription ran out so when I called to refill 30 minutes ago I kinda freak out when told they don't have any. My dr is come for the next three weeks or so and I'm not sure how I can get a refill.

I'm so not sure what to do. I am worried. I do have estrogen still and a bit more of that but what do I do? And until I get my t blockers how long do I have before bad things happen if I don't get refill any time soon

Can you go to another pharmacy? Unless the doctor is in a solo practice, someone there should be able to help. If so, who covers for him when he's out?

Is the problem that the pharmacy has no stock, or that the prescription has expired?  If it is just no stock, they can usually get it in in 24-48 hours.

If the problem is that your prescription has expired (no more refills left) then you need to see a doctor to get a new one.  Your doctor should have made arrangements for another doctor to take his patients while he is away, even if he is in a solo practice.  A substitute doctor should be able to write continuations of regular prescriptions.

If that doesn't work, you could try going to a walk-in clinic.  Take your prescriptions with you.  They might write you a new prescription or they might not.

If all else fails, it probably won't hurt a lot to skip the blocker for a couple of weeks.  Estrogen is a pretty good androgen blocker by itself, which is why they give it to prostate cancer patients, and why good ol' DES (a synthetic estrogen) was able to do its nefarious magic on trans women of my generation back in the 1950s.

My pharmacy will spit me some until they get in touch with my doctor.

Call your doctors office to ask to have new Rx sent to alternate pharmacy, there should be an assigned doctor covering them during their absence regardless if they are private practice.

For out-of-stock scenario,

1. If the pharmacy you go to is a chain store, you can ask them to call around and see who has the medication you need. The store that has your medication can just pull your Rx through their system.

2. Even if it's not a chain store, you can also ask them to call other pharmacies (e.g. Walgreens, CVS, Walmart...etc). Once they find a store that has your medication, you can then request a "Rx transfer" from pharmacy A to pharmacy B. But this will usually take awhile to be done (a couple hours depending on how busy the pharmacies are).

For Expired Rx or no more refills on the Rx,

You can request a few pills as "emergency supply" through your pharmacy. It's usually given a 3 days supply until they get a hold with your doctor or obtained a new Rx. You can speed up the process by giving your doctor a call.
