I really don't want to make this post but I feel like I should let you know.

I have an issue with my eyes. I thought it was just an infection but it might be something far more serious. In a long list, lol. My Laptop monitor is on its lowest brightness and it still is painful most of the time. I have an appointment with the hospital next week. I have had photosensitivity ever since I was in the navy. Have to wear sunglasses most of the time outside or I get massive headaches. But it's been worse lately. The site hurts my eyes. it's too bright.

If I am not here for a good long while, that's why. I am trying to get it sorted but... I am held together with spit and duct tape at this point, so... yeah. If I don't get another chance, thank you for the site. <3

I hope they can figure out and fix what may be wrong with your eyes.
Would a screen filter help?  It can darken the screen and make it visible only within a specific angle range.  Something like those dark license plate covers.

So sorry to hear that, Lauren. You will truly be missed. As a long-time member, your experience and insight have been a great inspiration for many of us. But I understand the problems with vision issues. Hopefully, the hospital will figure it out and the fix will be a simple one.

Thank you. I kind of always knew it was a downward spiral. 10 years ago they told me I wouldn't be alive for another 18 months. But meh. Here I am. And probably this will be sorted but it has me worried because it's been getting worse. Don't worry okay? It's probably all good. But I just wanted to say in case it isn't, and I can't be here anymore. Thank you for the site, and for everyone on it.

I'll probably take a break for a few weeks in case I have to go round with lassie dragging me off to abandoned wells while they pump me full of medication to fix whatever it is. It's probably nothing, and I'm hoping it isn't. But... yeah I'm kind of a bit scared at the moment, not gonna lie.

I do not know if you believe in prayer but I will pray for your well being and the wisdom of your medical optical team.  Intercessory prayers are good.

I realize you are scared.  That is a natural result of your concern about all of this.  Try to be positive about having good results.  We cannot ignore the possibility of unpleasant outcomes of course, but we can be hopeful for very good results.  Medical science has improved greatly over time.

Thank you, both. Chrissy, I don't.. personally. But I don't discount the possibility and that other people do, and that maybe it's a thing, so... thank you.

I hope you are right, Lori. Honestly... I don't want sympathy or anything okay? That makes me feel really... awkward. I am sure it will be okay and that I'll be apologising for making this thread in a few weeks. But my therapist insists that I need to not be like... well.. as I would put it "a camel's arse in a sandstorm." To talk about stuff because I am closed off most of the time. I am there for others but I never talk about my own stuff. Which is true. Because... I don't know. I always feel everyone else is more important. That I don't really matter. I dunno.

And this place means a lot to me. I might be slightly dosed up on painkillers at the moment so my eyes are probably screaming but I don't care. I can't feel it. Most of my internet stuff is like the darkest I can get, lol. Susan's is the light in the darkness.

One more thing..



Some tablets and screens have a DARK MODE.  Maybe that will work for you, if available to you.

No, the device itself is what I was talking about.  Some Apple device screens have that dark mode.

I only use my laptop for everything I do online. I am not one of these device people who have an alexa whispering in their ear.

Sephira, I am so sorry to hear that!  Health problems are never good, but to have problems with your eyes must be particularly worrying.  I hope they are able to track down the problem and treat it.

I will miss your level-headed support and wisdom for the time you are away.  Please come back when and if you are able to.  I wish you all the best as you face this challenge.

Sephirah, is it painful if you look directly at a light and then the pain eases if you look away? Also, do you have any red looking blood vessels in a segment of the white of your eye, rather than the whole eye being painful? Especially, if you look at the mirror in a dark room and then shine a light toward your eyes, do both your pupils constrict equally?

If you have not already done so, you might want to look into a screen reader. I used to test a product I worked on with both "Jaws" and "NVidea". There are options.
