Wow, that looks like a mountain of snow. Lori could really use extra help to dig that thing up. Perhaps she should take the all of Susan's with her. 😅

That is a great question!

For me, it would be this:

Most of the time, people will not notice you. They are in their own little bubble, and you are not a part of their world, so who cares what they think?

A small part of the time, someone will notice you for some reason but think nothing about it.
There are people with very strong opinions who may not be kind. Ignore their stupidity.

90% of the things we worry about never happen. Think about that.

Unfortunately I cannot come up with any advice that I could of wished for or used, when I changed my life around.  Maybe a little advice on my first time.  Everything I needed just eventuated naturally, it was a case of life just goes on regardless.

Good question Lilis

That's such a good point, Lori. It's wild how much time we could spend worrying about what others think when most people aren't even paying attention. My counselor at my local LGBTQ+ center tells me the same thing whenever I come in feeling dysphoric about the looks and stares, I think are directed at me in a negative way from strangers, whether from cisgender men or women. He always asks, 'Did you ask them what they were thinking?' and my answer is always no. Then he responds, 'So how would you know what they were thinking? You don't have the ability to read minds, or do you? He always gets me grounded with these questions.

That makes a lot of sense, Sarah. Looking back to the beginning of my transition, I remember starting out all alone, and now there are so many people around, whether for support, friendship, or just someone to talk to. It's weird how this journey unfolds naturally, like taking our hands off the wheel and letting the car steer itself to the destination.

Wait... did I just describe a Tesla? 😂

Well, my advice is to not focus on transitioning to "be a woman" (or "to be a man") but on transitioning to be yourself

As long as you're focused on being some image of who you're supposed to be,  you'll never be satisfied.

Agreed!  I'm on the rails of a personal life's road.

I do the things I need to, keeping my sanity.  Collaboration, cooperation with personal identity maintenance means keeping a flair for what I am, what I want to be, what I want the world to see.  My life is too short to worry too much about how other's see me.

In the end we are all individuals, just like every one else.  I avoid places and situations that infringe on others rights, especially where they are too boneheaded to understand tolerant acceptance (and a great dirty raft of those words the U.S. Executive Branch are attempting to cloud or remove from written opinions.)

For me, emotional and physical safety are kingpins of my reality.  i just do it in a skirt or slacks and sweater set.

Couch your experience in a life well lived.  Consider that we are social animals after all is said and don't do well truly alone.  Find your balance in your village.  Try try try not to force yourselves on others.  Your reality is what will matter most.

I love the short but I'm suspicious about what happened to the sheep's leg in the first place.  Some creatures have a place ON the table of life.

Fantastic!  Something new to me.  Predictable but appropriately so.

I can't remember who or when, but someone said, and I'm paraphrasing, most people arrive at this site (Susan's Place) somewhere between crisis and acceptance. For me, those words were so true, but I was in a crisis and neglected to copy down the exact words or remember who said them. Whoever it was, I owe you a debt of gratitude. I got through the crisis. Since this is so off topic, I'm probably testing the theorem that this is the thread that can't be broken. But I would really like to know who said those words to me when I really needed to hear them. And thank them personally.

I tried, Lilis-- But, honestly, whoever sent that to me, talked me off a ledge. I keep trying to think of humorous topics I can share. Thanks for laughing at my post, it makes me think I'm getting closer to that moment. I think that's what they meant when they said that. Right now, I'm smiling. That's one heckuva start.

Ashley! You're back. Now, I'm going to say something stupid (which some of you are beginning to expect). Thanks for making me a buddy (as did MaryT). Which is so awesome. I asked a moderator what it meant, and she said I would be able to see when you were on line. But I can't. Anyway, it's a gift to be your buddy. So, if I hit the wrong button, which I am so prone to do, with you or MaryT, please know I intended to hit the right one. BTW I read the entire poem. Then I read it again. Thanks.
