Montana governor signs laws banning trans people from bathrooms & sports

By Daniel Villarreal (27 March 2025)

Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte (R) has signed two anti-transgender bills into law: one banning trans people from using restrooms, changing rooms, and sleeping quarters matching their gender identities, and another banning trans female athletes from playing on sports teams that match their gender identities.

In his video statement about the laws, Gianforte denounced "radical" "far-left gender ideology" and implied that trans people threaten the safety of women and girls. In reality, cisgender men harm women and girls far more than trans women.

The first bill, House Bill 121, bans trans individuals from using multiple-occupancy restrooms, changing rooms, and sleeping quarters in detention facilities, local domestic violence programs, public schools, and public buildings, including libraries, museums, hospitals, auditoriums, dormitories, or university buildings.

Anyone who encounters someone using a facility that doesn't match the biological sex they were assigned at birth can sue the trans or nonbinary individual for breaking the law.

The second bill, House Bill 300, prohibits educational institutions from allowing trans women and girls to play on girls' and women's sports teams. The law also says it is "not an unlawful discriminatory practice for a student to call another student by the student's legal name or refer to another student by the student's sex." Put another way, the law says it's not discriminatory for transphobic students to deadname or misgender trans or nonbinary students.

Deadnaming has to be one of the most unpleasant happenings in one's life.

There are worse happenings for someone to have but this deadnaming is so unwanted.

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

This new law only affects a few people: us. Of course, Gianforte knew that when he signed it into law. I live in the once great state of Montana. And I will die here on land I worked my entire life to acquire. We belong.

I will not use a women's locker room or shower area in a gym.  I would if I get bottom surgery.

I will use, if in a separate area, the bathroom though.

I think it is better overall to not do so, regardless if it is allowed by law or not.
But that is speaking for me and my feelings and thoughts.  It is my decision.

It is best to be safe.

I choose not to use public restrooms ever again.

I'll tell my psychologist to add that to my list of phobias and things I avoid:

Public restrooms
MAGA hats
Republicans
Orange people

The pads may not be absorbant enough but maybe some other supply you have can handle whatever!

No pads. Containers that can be washed and reused. A shovel, and plenty of TP as well. I lived in the forest from May 5 - Nov 11, 2015. Then again from Jun 25 - Aug 14, 2023. I am well-prepared.  ;D
