@Sephirah, I got hooked on RPGs way, way back. My first addiction was Daggerfall. I loved that game! Then graduated to Elder Scrolls. I played Skyrim for many years and modded the heck out of it.
For quite a while, I played online games like World of Warcraft, World of Tanks, Warplanes, Warships, and a few others like Eve. I found that I enjoy PVE, exploring the game worlds, but never cared for PVP. That led me to other games like Cyberpunk, Generation Zero, and Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Over the past couple of years, I've gotten more into city-builder games. I played SimCity up through SimCity 4. Then I discovered other similar games that take place in different time periods.
Dawn of Man starts you out with a small tribe of cave people, and you must get them to collect wood for fires, structures, and tools; hunt for food and skins, etc. As your tribe grows, so does its "technology" (stone, mining, metals, and domesticated animals).
Medieval Dynasty is a FPS game where you build a small town. There are quests that you can ignore, but eventually, you get blocked and cannot proceed further until you complete them.
Then I discovered Banished. Wowza. Playing the game got me hooked, and then (like any addiction) it wasn't enough. So I downloaded the Colonial Charter mod. That almost makes it like a new game. There are plenty of other mods for this game that totally change it and give it a whole new experience.
I don't play much when the weather is warm. I am usually outside digging up rocks.

But when it gets cold and snowy, I stay inside and build cities.
