I'm sure you all know how easy it is to see your own identity in others. But I think my nephew may be one of us, or will be when he's older. (He's 12 now.) He's always wearing his older sister's shirts and sweatshirts. Even the ones that are pretty obviously girls. He's been asking if things look too girlish, but only because he doesn't want to be laughed at. Otherwise I don't think he'd care.
He loves to be the Queen of Narnia and even has a costume he wears. He used to like being the Wicked Witch of the West and Dorothy but those have gone by the wayside in recent years. When they play Narnia on their Game Cube he has to be Susan. He has no problem being female characters, either in games or in their plays.
At the same time, there's a lot about him that's a normal boy. He wanted to be Peter in The Sound Of Music. He'll happily wear his own shirts. (That "always" above is an exaggeration.) He enjoys men's gymnastics and men's figure skating.
So what do you think? Does he sound like a potential androgyne or genderqueer? Or maybe this is just normal behavior and I'm overly sensitive to all this?
