I love cockroaches. I'd have one for a pet if i could.

Why, you can. You can have one two inches long. They sell 'em at pet stores, 'Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches' and 'Deaths Head Cockroaches' and one that looks like an ordinary NYC Periplaneta americana, but with pretty speckles on its shell. They're all easy to keep, slow enough to handle, and unable to climb out of a glass terrarium. People feed 'em to lizards and stuff, they're less of a pain to raise than crickets.

I have bees.

I don't mind any insects coming within close proximity of me. that is of couse for the exception of the blood sucking insects. All other insects don't bother me, not even wasps and bees as well as butterflies and dragon flies and such. Unless you make a fast movement even the hornets and bees will not hurt you, they'll just fly around you, landing a few times then deciding that supper was not salty enough for them they will take off again. Same as any other critters of the wilds such as snakes won't bother you unless you startle or scare them into a defensive response, especially if they feel threatened, an instinctive action born from self preservation.

Also stay away from any of the larger critters of the wild you may find wandering about the sidewalks in your home town. These critters may have only wondered in, in search of food, but there are also some that are acting kind of weird. We had two such incidences take place twice in one week here in Vancouver city. Two bears one appeared to be full grown bear and another who attacked a lady in her own backyard was just a cub, very unusual behaviour for a bear cub to act like that because they are usually friendly towards people.

Just a little education about Mommy natures critters. I had lots of time to watch the behaviour of both wild and domestic animals, I lived a good part on my life either in the country or close to it, like walking distance.

I hate bees. They make you all nervous flying around like that. I've only been stung once, and I didn't even see the bee until it was stuck in my palm. I was running along the shore of the pond, pulling the bee out as I ran. The stinger was still stuck inside, and my dad had to pull it out. I can't believe I pulled that bee out. I did it so fast I didn't even have time to think.

Last time remember being stung by a bee I was five yours old and was stung on the tongue of all places.

It got in the straw of my drink apparently.  Tell you for years I kept any openings of my drinks covered when not drinking it LOL
Every day we pass people, do we see them or the mask they wear?
If you live under a mask long enough, does it eventually break or wear down?  Does it become part you?  Maybe alone, they are truly themselves?  Or maybe they have forgotten or buried themselves so long, they forget they are not a mask?

I have been attacked by paper wasps on more than one occation, but I'm still not afraid of them.  The only bugs I have no mercy on are mosquitoes and ticks.  I'm the same way about leaches, but that's a different story.

put down diatomaceous earth, it kept them out of my apartment when the neighbors didn't have proper hygiene. I like it because it is non-toxic for the most part but long term inhalation isn't a good idea. As long as you don't have small pets running behind your cupboards then just sprinkle it around behind your fridge, in cupboards and cracks between baseboards, etc. It is pretty cheap and effective. I don't like many bugs but I don't see a point to tormenting or killing them unless they pose dangers to me or my household. I hate cockroaches after eventually running screaming from that apartment building. Earwigs are also painted with the same brush because they look alike.

And bed bugs, brrrrrrrr. breaking out in goose bumps just thinking about them. But they also belong to the blood sucking species and yes there are a few other pests that can cause fairly extreme discomfort like earwigs which are quite capable of giving one a bite that is as painful as a hornet or bee. But most insects will leave you alone if you leave them alone unless they happen to fall in your clothes.

Mosquitoes and spiders absolutely LOVE me. I wake up EVERY morning with an itch somewhere. I got a tick bite once at a school camping trip. I got it on Monday during the hike and didn't even realize I had it till Thursday when I was on the toilet (of all places). I saw a little black thing at my waist, and I tried to brush it off, but naturally it didn't, then I tried to pull it out, again to no avail. Only then did I realize what it was. Then I pulled up my pants and ran all the way down to the nurse's office in the main quad. That was nasty.   *Chills* :icon_omfg:

ok hate ticks too lol

One time went rock climbing with my father and sat down in this cave one point.  I ended up covered in little red deer ticks.  Managed not to get bitten by more than 2 of them though.  OK well maybe 5 bit me lol.

My dog got a tick once. My mom pulled it off of him, put it on the porch railing, and smashed it with a ketchup bottle. Blood splattered everywhere, including on me. I don't think my mom expected THAT. I freaked out. Dog blood. :s

When I was a kid overseas, I was merciless about ticks. I would crush the flat ones whenever I saw them scuttling about, and when I found engorged ones on horses I'd crush them, too. They made me angry. Torturing innocent horses, taking blood that wasn't theirs. I guess it's a funny way to look at it.

There were LOTS of ticks around--in the stables, the woods, the bull and bronc pastures. When we came back to the States, one thing that surprised me was the relative paucity of ticks. I mean, we had them, but it was nothing like the country I had just come from. I wonder why that is.

You just need a reptile heater pad for the tank and you'd be set. You can mail-order some pretty cool looking ones, but you'd have to get a box of lots and would want another tank so you could sex-segregate the little critters before you're knee deep in cute roaches.

Eublaberus prosticus, "orange headed roach." Nice looking cockroach. I want one now.

And then there's the ever-popular maggot. Somehow a fly managed to get into the trash can this week. I'll blame my partner, since he's the one who every so often leaves the swinging lid cocked, whereas I am fanatical about maintaining a fully closed lid. And the result, in sf parlance, was ten thousand little griglings that began hatching this morning.

I had great fun cleaning that up today.
