I know, I know: "Who the hell is Jeanette Howard Foster?" That's what
I thought before I read her biography Sex Variant Woman: The Life of
Jeannette Howard Foster by Joanne Passet. Aside from being another
one of those smooth-faced, doe-eyed temptresses the 1940's were chock
full of (see: Natalie Barney, hotsie actress; see also, Dorothy
Dandridge, ditto), I had no idea who she was or why I should care.
