I'm on the opposite side of the fence (MtF) but I can relate to the voice problem, especially on the phone. It's a bit complicated as my caller ID displays a female name, but my voice sounds male. Strangely enough I do seem to pass in public when speaking although I believe I have a long ways to go with the voice training -- I guess people hear what they see?

I'm curious as to how people here handle phone conversations when the person calls you ma'am (or sir as in my case).

Dora

people estimate that 70-90% of communication is nonverbal, so yeah, that would be understandable.

When I was "trying to pass" I would say, "Uh, that's Mr." of course I'm not doing that again until i've been on T awhile.

I haven't corrected them yet, I don't know why.  Probably will just say, excuse me, that's SIR.  Most of the time it's phone solicitors.  The other times it's the doctor's offices calling to confirm. Since I'm still using my FEMALE NAME/F on my insurance card I guess that's expected.
