Hmmm a lot of the answers to your questions depend on the specifics in your life.
I called my insurance company and asked for a Gender Identity Disorder therapist referral, and they gave me phone numbers. One of the phone numbers I happened to call belongs to my current therapist, she's GREAT and she's technically a "sexuality and gender" specialist but she can write me letters if necessary. My insurance covers the entire cost of each visit.
So my advice to you is.....Call your insurance company, don't leave them out of the loop. Use the term "Gender Identity Disorder Therapist" when asking for names and phone numbers of doctors. If that doesn't work ask for a therapist who specializes in "Gender and Sexuality." According to my therapist, no one specializes ONLY in GID because there's not much demand? (Not enough ->-bleeped-<-s in the world?) So if you see someone who specializes in G & S make SURE the first thing you ask is about whether or not they are qualified to write you letters to approve you for testosterone. I was not hesitant to ask my therapist, and she was glad to respond.
If that doesn't work, do some online searches and see what comes up. Then call and ask if they take your insurance.
Generally therapy can usually be covered by insurance. I can't say on the other stuff though but you have a long way to go (at least 3 months minimum) before you have to worry about T, AFTER you find a therapist you can see regularly. So there's plenty of time to look into it. You could always call your insurance too and see if they cover endocrinologist visits (that's who gives you T) and Gender Reassignment Surgery.
I know you want the right wording for things, so if you can be more specific about what you want to know, I can try and be of more help. Like say....you want to have your chest removed....I could tell you it's called a mastectomy? I don't know. I hope I answered all your questions bro. Welcome to Susan's by the way
