do you guys who have had your chest surgery really just save up all the money to pay for it?

thats gotta take a long time...
and plus money for getting there and hotel and all that.


im so depressed.
i hate my chest
i cant wear the clothes i wanna wear
the binder is annoying to have to put on every morning let alone wear

and whenever someone randomly shows up i run upstairs and put the stupid thing on

im only 18 and live in a SMALL town in NY
its hard enough getting a job let alone one making good money

i just have no idea how to get the money to get it done with.

any suggestions or is saving up the only way?

I'm with you, and have posted a similar thread before. From most of the guys I've talked to, they all save for it. A few used student loans (which I plan on doing) to pay for it.
I've even thought about hitting up my rich aunt and uncle to ask, but don't have the balls to do it. Guess I don't have much to lose. But there's no way I can save with the job I have now, having to pay rent and all that.

i feel lucky that i haven't been able to get my own place yet. But i have managed to get myself pretty familiar with the debt collectors which doesn't help at all.

But i now have a full time job, and i know th pay is minimum, but i do plan on saving it all myself. I have my very first appointment with the endo today and i managed to save the consultation fee (english £225) within the space of 3wk so i'm pretty psyched about that and at the minute believe i can save for anything... lol

There's no harm in trying 

I luckly dont have to save for my top surgery as luckly the NHS pay for it. However it does mean waiting a time to have it.. was told possibly... May/June next year because of my dose swap..

However bottom surgery I will have to fork out for myself as the UK surgeons aren't that great in my view. I will give them a look at though..

My top surgery is actually going to cost MORE than double incision. Insurance won't cover it so yes... I will have to save up for it. It'll take a year or two to save up the money, I think.

I'm only 18 too but this is important enough for me that I am going to be writing up dozens of job applications.

Even though I'm older I never had that kind of money, either, and saving for it seemed impossible.

I sold a crappy business at the beginning of the year and that's the only reason I have the money.  Otherwise I'd be saving for it.  Well actually I sort of am, as I do have a savings account that likely will reach that amount before Dec., just that I can't touch that one for other reasons.

But yeah.  Save.

And if I can offer one word of advice if anyone was thinking about using a credit card cash advance = DON'T.  Credit cards SUCK.  (Personal Experience!  Learn from me and don't rack up credit card debt!!)

I'm pretty much at the same point as you, just that I'm 21.

I'm hoping that because of how severely painful my breasts are 24/7, and a weird issue with my cleavage, that insurance might help...  only problem being, I don't have insurance.  My partner is looking into everything we have to do to sign up for a domestic partnership in D.C. so that I could be put on his.

I have an annuity, I get a small payment every month as my only inheritance from my grandmother's recent death, supposed to last for a few years.
I've heard there's ways to get a chunk of it at once, which would be ideal, but I have yet to find out specifics about that.

If all of that fails, I guess I'll just have to get a job and save, too.   

i dont have much life experience (only 17) but my suggstion is stay at home and mooch off of your arents for as long as you can.  if youre still in your 20s and in college, stay at home if at all possible.  no property taxes, utilities, food costs, rent.... its just much easier to save when you have no/little money that you NEED to spend each paycheck.

Not sure what to do myself.  I have student loans I have to start paying off in April, right now I don't make much.  Am trying to save but not having much luck.  I'm going have to put asside money for changing name first though.  Have a chance of that being cheaper as several local transgender people in comunity are thinking of gathering to have our names changed in same trials etc

yep my buddy got me a good job in d.c. & I saved up the money 4 it in 'bout 2 yrs. 400 bucks a month. but I was livin at home. didnt have a truck. didnt pay rent. food & stuff I wanna get a hysto now but gotta save 12k first. it aint easy when u dont live at home anynore but I'm savin. I waited 2 yrs b4. I can wait 4 or 5 yrs this time to no rush.

I photocopied some twenties and handed my surgeon a briefcase.

Thats what am hoping can get, someone who willing to do the surgery but bill it as breast reduction.  Maybe even include repairative surgery since the reduction surgery several years ago left dog ears and heavy scars, even if not that the fact that I still have back problems from being top heavy and I've gone back to just one size smaller than was before surgery.

I was still developing when had the surgery, and the doctor who was supposed to do the surgery was replaced by someone I never met because the other doctor was out with scouts grr
