ok so it is said that healthy hair grows at about a half an inch per month on average and since december my hair has grown between
5 to 6 inches so I guess that average appears to be true. Well I was reading some topics on a hair forum and one peaked my interest
it stated that Miconazole Nitrate which is the active ingredient in Neosporin AF and Monistat was causing hair to grow faster than
the average. I thought to myself who would have actually put antifungal creams on thier scalp, so I googled multiple forums and
info sites on this chemical and to my surprise everyone that has used it claims mind blowing results in fact I could not find
anyone who has used it claiming that it didn't do anything for them. these people state that thier hair is growing at a rate of 1 to 1 and a half inches per month and they have the pictures that prove thier results and from what I have seen it dates back to 2002 so I guess it is not that new. well the more I read the more I was sold on this unorthadoxed idea so this morning I went to my local pharmacy and picked up a tube of Monistat 7. I put a small amount on my fingertips and proceeded to rub it into my scalp repeating the process until my whole scalp was done. Within 10 minutes my scalp started to tingle which made me believe that there may be some truth to this. some of the members of one of the forums made a hair mix where they said you put cayenne pepper in castor oil and leave it in there for about 3 weeks then filtering out the cayenne pepper and adding the monistat or neosporin to the oil saying that the pepper will
increase blood flow to the scalp in a way that massaging could not do. I plan to try that mix in about 3 weeks. Anyway I just wanted to post it here because there are just too many people praising this. I only just started this so I will keep anyone interested in my results informed.

I have been using rogain on 2 tiny spots on my forehead. The classic M shaped receding hair line thing (at least my m is small). While rogain is not recommended to treat this type of hair lose my doc told me it would work some of the time. I have been using it twice a day for 2 months and am seeing regrowth in the bald spots.. Its mainly around the edges but new hairs are sprouting in the bare areas as well. One thing I have noticed is the hair on my forehead (between the bare spots) is growing twice as fast as the hair on top of my head even though i have not put it on there. I have bleached hair so the difference in regrowth is easy to see. I hope to see continuing improvements over the next few months. The store brands of rogain are pretty cheap like 20$ (walmart brand) for 3 to 4 months worth so the price is not that bad just make sure its 5% rogain. The only draw back to using this stuff is the hair will stop growing back in if you stop using the product. I think if you used it all over your scalp on a regular basis it would really speed up hair growth but it depends on how well you respond to it. An like Chrissty said please keep us informed I would love to know how good your method works.

I have been using walmart's brand Minoxidil for 4 months with great results and I also apply it to my hairline and it is growing back there.
also some of the vellus hair on my hairline is now gaining length and color. I am amazed at the results I have got from minoxidil.
And although I understand that it is stated that the hair will stop growing if I stop using it, I am not sure that I really believe that, at least not with having chemically altered Hormones remember they claim that it doesn't work on hairlines, well it is working on mine, or is it? the reason I say this is because I am certain that I was losing my hair because of androgenetic alopecia so the culprit is DHT. when I started hormone therapy, by six months into it, my hair (or lack of I should say) on my crown was growing back. when I noticed this I was curious how that was possible and I learned all that I could about DHT's effects on hair. I believe that most of my hair follicles in the affected areas were not yet completely destroyed by DHT but rather in a dormant catagen phase where DHT just kept beating them to death. Now with a significant reduction in DHT from the Meds, which In my case is permanent I don't think that discontinuing Minoxadil will be an issue because of the lack of DHT. I do not plan to stop using minoxidil any time soon but I wanted to point out that it was not the cause of the return of my hair growth.... so why do I use it then?  well it is believed by many including myself that minoxidil works by causing hair to cycle into its anagen phase of growth regardless of the phase it is currently in so I use it as kind of a booster. when I do stop using minoxidil my hair will likely cycle but I should have healthier follicles at that point, I hope.

my current hair mix is this:

for growth
2 tablespoons of miconazole Nitrate 2%
2 tablespoons of capsaicin 0.1%
2 milliliters of minoxidil 5%

the claims are that miconazole nitrate being that it is an antifungal stops any fungus that may be growing on the scalp like dandruff
and increases oxygen to the scalp.
I use capsaicin to stimulate blood flow, it is known that it increases the benifits of minoxidil.

once I put this stuff on I felt it. the capsaicin really gives my head a warming tingle that lasts anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.

it has a greasy texture and is not the easiest to get on your scalp without getting it in your hair, gives me that wet hair gel look that
i'm not used to but I deal with it. I will check in 1 month to see if there are any signs of growth but give it 3 months before I decide to continue or not. I will post my results.

Hmm, interesting. Would this work on beard hair as well and make the hair removal faster there since you can "force" the hair to be in the correct stage for the duration of the hair removal process?

I just wanted to give an update on how the cream mix is working for me
it has been a little over two and a half months since I started.
For the first month and a half I used it every day but then slacked off a bit
during the last month. My hair was nearing six inches when I started
now it is just past 8 inches. I am very pleased with it and agree that it does
increase the speed of hair growth.

H Nicole,

Thanks for the update

If the results keep coming at this rate you could consider starting a business selling your formula! ::)

I have found a reasonably priced source of minoxidil in the UK now, and have started a course of 1ml twice a day.

...so I'll have to look for sources of Miconazole Nitrate and Capsaicin now.

Hi Crissty

In the UK the Miconazole Nitrate is sold as Daktarin, but I don't Know about Capsaicin
you may have to order it. In the US it is an arthritis pain relief cream.
(I bought a generic CVS drug store brand)
