Quote"what it to you."
That is true of so very much "social legislation" and the subject of many a referendum.
What is it to you if black, Hispanic, LTBG, female, male, what-have-you folks get treated with decency and respect and a sense that they are human as well and deserving of legal protections and the same damned perks as you are?
We make a lot of noise about them when they attempt to gain that respect as though it would somehow change us all into Cardassians or Klingons or some sort of inveterate ne'er-do-wells who would merely sit in the ashes and await the disintegration of society and value.
Goddess! What the heck
does it matter? They gonna take those rights and that respect and ability to live lives like others and take away mine, or yours or someone else's? May we just be a tad bit reasonable, or are we always going to be driven by insanity, blind rage and ignorance?
I hope to Mother it's not the latter, but some folks give me little reason to hope for any better than that: they show forth ignorance and hatred as though those were some celestial merit-badges that will allow them all free-passes into a xtian heaven or the rulership of the country, the Universe, for eternity.
What blissful and despicably inchoate moronic lack of sense and heart!
Keith put a finger on something very elusive: good sense and empathy and care at no cost to anyone, unless it's withheld. Then, I think, the cost is paid by the heartless and ignorant savages who parade around as though they are the quintessential wisdom made manifest.
Keith was rather quiet in his comment. The quietness of a wisdom the shouters and ranters never seem able to touch.
