very good case under Title VII

Yeah, launch a Federal Case?  You need huge amounts of money for that.  You'd have to start local first I think, and I don't think that Ohio has those kind of laws, and I'm not sure how liberal an area she is in, some parts of Ohio are pretty conservative republican places.

What I have seen from Wal-Mart is that they never the give the real reason someone is getting fired.  Case in point:  I know someone who was fired because he had a heart attack.  They trumped up something else on him and dumped him.  Problem solved.  No more insurance for that expensive employee.  This is what you will be up against.

Well, and something else, they have enough lawyers to populate a small country, almost unlimited resources, and the ability to wait, delay, stall, obstruct every step of the way, and they will.

While I have never worked for Walmart I have been in similar circumstances. I worked for a company called grocery outlet it was a discount grocery store. I went through a lot of ->-bleeped-<- for the two years I worked there and saw 3 managers come and go. To sum it up I was the best employee they had and Im not being arrogant I could do every single job in the store and I did it faster and more accurately than any other employee. When I quit after 2 years I was still making the same wage I started at which was minimum. I was promised a raise 5 times and passed up for managership twice. At the end the store was going to hell half the employees quit and the third manager that I actually liked was fired all in the same week. I didn't even get to say goodbye to him because I was checking out a mile long line of customers. I finally gave my two weeks notice and quit and they didn't even let me work the two weeks. things where so bad the day I quit I nearly had a breakdown. A few months later they went out of business driven under by walmart and every other discount grocery store chains that had smarter business practices and didn't use equipment and methods 30 years out of date.

My advice to you get out before things get to that point but whatever you do don't quit before you have another job lined up. You do not want to be job hunting with the way the economy is right now.

Ya know, I am in a simular situation. I lost my job at ->-bleeped-<--mart on 1-4-09. They tell me that my attendance was a problem. Well first of all, I think that they are not very bright just giving you three days every six months to miss. Sometimes you just cannot control what happens. I am diabetic, and I get sick quite often. I have brought in doctor excuses, does wal-mart care? Hell no...they just want you there to help the company make money. Recently my dad was in the hospital back in Texas with a possible heart attack. I called in, as most people would. I was very concerned, and wal-mart was my last priority at that time. Did I get in trouble? You bet your ass I did. Now, I called this past week to let them know that I would be late due to car trouble. I got to talking to Support Manager Mike (who I have never met and did not know that they could not tell you not to come in) it was snowing pretty hard here in Michigan, and he told me just to take the day off. So I gladly did! I get back to work in a few days, and Asst Manager Lee tells me that the "papers" have already been drawn up to let me go. I'm like "What the hell, I was given permission not to come in". I went through the whole story, and he was not convinced. He let me work that night (only closer, so of course). I was off the following two days. When I came back in sunday morning, he let me go. Support Manager Mike denied ever speaking with me. They would not take my word. Meanwhile Asst Lee is bragging about all the cars and houses he has, knowing damn well that the economy is hard right now, and I might not be able to find another job. Now I am trying to get unemployment, but since he put it in as a termination, I am not sure that I will get it. Anyway, I am sure wal-mart will fight tooth and nail not to give me anymore money...the bastards!!!
So, I fully understand how you feel, and what you are going through. Wal-mart sucks, plain and simple! Good luck, I hope it all works out for you!!!

Wal Mart sucks, I have an american friend who is really very sick at the moment, he is in remission for leukemia and they are trying to screw him over by not paying the insurance even though he has worked loyally for them for years.

I just cannot believe the morals of this company they are the lowest of the low even for business especially when it comes to respecting the rights and dignity of others.
There should be a law in place in Ohio like in the UK whereby you have the right to call yourself whatever you want provided you are not denying past links to who you were should this need to be investigated in cases of fraud etc...it's just a basic human right.  All you need to do here if you want to legally change your name is either makea statutory declaration or apply for a deed poll both of which are very easy to do, the latter you can even do it online and then it is your job to inform all your utility companies, banks etc...

My advice to you is get the hell out but either try and find another (preferably better) job first or get fired rather than let them force you out, make the b**tards pay you unemployment.

As for customers complaining that is blatant trans prejudice and the company should do nothing but support you to the hilt on eliminating this unpleasantness.
