Most things I think just fade away over time, few fight to the death.  The old view lingers, like in a shadowland, never quite fully going away, but it just doesn't seem to matter after some point.

Somewhere along the way racism, once a way of life in a lot of the United States just stopped being as functional as it once was.  Its still there, but it no longer seems to be a dominating deal.  It doesn't matter like it used to.

The poor guy gets a bad rap from the media. He himself is a media sucker along with all the other shock jocks that are now on the offensive after eight years of defense. Their mouth is bigger than the facts. It needs to be put in perspective. Remember they have only one vote. It is the morons that believe him that are the problem. I suspect his praying bit will not be offensive.

This site is also the other side shock opinion. How about the facts without emotion, we all could benefit.

I'm not having emotions. I don't care if the guy does the inaugural thing.

My meaning was that you seem to be dwelling on the fact that gays want to be public with their displays.  And that kind of thing.

That is a generalizing statement. There are many gays who like their displays private like there's there's also a number of hets who like their public displays.

The groups should be divided by 'people' who like public displays & 'people' who dislike public displays of affection.

The 'facts' are pretty simple.  He believes in an invisible friend, who is his pal, who created and runs the universe.  I, on the other hand, think that people who think there is some imaginary person running the universe are kinda insane.  If I'm right, and they are insane, then there is no need to go further.  Insane persons can not participate in rational debate.

If Rick Warren, or even Obama, or anyone else, somehow thinks that a bunch of nomads, wandering in the desert a few thousand years ago, who could not even as much as describe the rock their ass sat upon, somehow came up with a bunch of rules that are the best guide for people living in the 21st Century, well, what's to talk about?

I think they are seriously insane if they not only have an invisible buddy, but they also do as they believe he would want them to.

If you read the whole thread you will see the meaning of public. From sex shops to hitting on people to obnoxious  remarks and public nudity and outlandish behavior. No matter straight or gay they and a majority want to keep that behavior off the streets and away from children . It seems that many gays think that equal rights mean that it is open season on sex. It has a time and place as of now it seems a threat to the middle class. They just want public spaces, schools, work places and family entertainment free of sex.

There is a pond area near my house in a national park. It is a gay hangout. I have seen nude gays running out of the woods as the police patrol the area. As did the morning school bus full of children.

My point is that it feels like you're singling out gays.  I'm not even disagreeing with you. Just wondering if you are being a little bit one sided in who you complain about.

If gays are running naked thru the woods near you, maybe someone should call a cop.  I never have seen gays do anything like that, so my point of view is that gays are no more into public displays than anyone else.

What I said is compromise is possible. It is only when each side does not see their own extreme that no one is going to accept the other. What people are in fear of is that there is no control on sexual displays and aggressiveness. Just as the Senator was caught in the airport bathroom. The same fears as transsexuals in female bathrooms. People want to be safe from aggressive sexual advances which seems that gay pride wants to do away with that safeness. The fight is not about rights it is about what the majority of the culture deems safe.

Why not keep your kids out of those areas? 

For one thing I am not taking sides. It is the examples that behavior in this culture is limited regardless of the laws. People are not going to accept others that threaten their safety. Hence the quote "immature and slutty" that is the argument not gay rights. The rights issue is over shadowed by everyday life and the number of personal experiences people have. The best way to achieve legal rights is not to violate people's personal culture.  Each should police their comrades in observing the other people's comfort levels, neither side is willing.  It is equally frightening for people to make passes at married people be it gay or straight, it puts them in the same light "immature and slutty". It takes some maturity to understand.

Rick Warren doesn't say "some gays" or "this behaviour from gays and straights", he doesn't qualify his statement. He also calls gays "unrepentant" and you know what that implies. Again, you're seeking to tolerate intolerance, and usually intolerance wins in those cases (it has more oomph than being nice).
