Pat just called me and said that my amended birth certificate just showed up. I am now listed as having been born female. The truth has finally been revealed.
Interesting that it took just over nine months for it to show up from when I sent in the documentation.
This is last major piece of my documentation change. When I first came back from Dr. McGinn's and had the gender change documents in my hand, I thought I would mount my amended certificate on the wall.
Interestingly enough, I no longer feel that compelled. I will certainly file it with my other important documents and put them all in a safe deposit drawer. But having to proclaim my birthright to the world doesn't seem necessary now. I know I'm a woman (I have for quite a long while), and everyone else knows I am a woman, so what's the big deal?
Yes, it has been a big deal to get to this point, but from here on, I just want to get on with my life. I'm as feminine as the next girl and I don't need a piece of paper to prove it.
Interesting.
