it happened yesterday morning.....

judge came in, all rise....

sworn in, a few "filler questions"
"common usage? that means this
is the name your family and friends
are calling you?" (thank you whomever
it was, whose thread said: just write
common usage in reason for name change request)

signed the petition for name change and
about $250 later he is signed sealed and delivered.....

trying to make this seem as natural as breathing,
i realize i can barely breathe...

as simple as i would like it to be,
it is richly complex, emotionally exhausting....

i am glad to be free of any influence
that views him as an abomination...
my heart could not survive releasing
him to face his reality unaccompanied....

blessings be to those who must....
this mom loves you

You continue to be supportive and as accepting as anyone should ever expect a Mom to be. By the way, are you active in a local PFLAG chapter? I am a member of our local chapter aand also Vice President of the national chapter, TNET (Transgender Network). PFLAG can use you, your experience, and your supportive love to help other parents, siblings and spouses of transgender folks make the transition along with their loved ones!

well mate, if PFLAG was any closer than the
80 miles (one way) i would have to drive...
i would so be there!!!

i appreciate the congratulations
which i accept on adrien's behalf....

he wore the boutineer i hade made him to court
in the lapel of his suit coat... a red rose bud...
he looked so cute, so young, so scared

i took him back to school right after the hearing,
with the paperwork in hand to deliver to the high school
administration to get his records changed ASAP

then i went to the local market and got a balloon bouquet...
with a great big shiny silver "its a boy!" balloon in the midst
of blue and purple balloons....

i told him... ya know, this is groundhog day....
we're gonna have to do this again next year,
and the year after that, and the year after that.....

i know he keeps wishing his gene pool had been a lil deeper......

Your love is almost tangible.  It made me cry (I'm at work dammit!!!)

Bless you!

I can feel how proud you are of your son.  I am so proud of you!

You can tell Adrian that we'd all love to be at his next birthday on Groundhogs Day.
