What's so darned important about shoes?

Thank you, Tinkerbell, for reaffirming my belief that I'm really a guy. If I ever spent more than 10 seconds on which of my 2 pairs of shoes to wear (athletic or not), I think I'd go insane. That's one thing I'll never understand... what's so darned important about shoes?

I'm with you Rafe and why you would need more than a couple of pairs and maybe some boots is beyond me.

workboots, trackshoes, sandals (which get maybe 2 months of use the whole year... welcome to western canada) and dress shoes which are used for church, weddings and funerals. i've tried and tried to figure out why it is such a big deal for women... and i still can't. this should be a whole topic in itself, why does a woman need a pair of shoes for everyday of the month and usually only ever wear half of them!?

yet another mystery of the female mind

Hi Rafe:

Two pairs of shoes, athletic or not???  ....boys will be boys...as they say... :-*

My dear, men will never understand the complexity of women...I mean...we're different species after all ;)

Our shoes come in so many names, shapes, and forms:  flats, fringe, high-heel,
low-heel, ankle straps, mules, open-toed, lace-up, pointy toe, espadrilles, hook and loop, zip-on, t-straps, mocassins, slip-on, pull-on, monk strap, sandals, loafers, slouch, jellies, huarache, platforms, spikes, pumps, round-toe,  and steel toe.  Of course,  there are many more that I forgot to mention...but anyway...just wanted to let you know................

I know 7 of those types of shoes that you mentioned Auntie Robin, and 4 of them only because my step daughter has been educating me while rolling her eyes and says "jeez, get with the program" (jokingly of course). I tell ya, living with women you learn all kinds of things but will never learn how they really think or understand some of the things that they do.

You know wolfie, I can't figure it out either.  I've got one purse that needs to be replaced.  It's black and goes everywhere.  But I have this thing for shoes. Go figure.

Cindi

I have noticed that many women that I know have dozens of pairs of shoes and one, maybe 2 purses tops. Why is this? Don't purses have match your clothing like shoes do? Is that why you need so many shoes... wow, overload! Maybe you ladies can shed some light on this.

Meh, 4 shoes.
1 slippers -- normal wear
1 tennis shoe -- fast and easy
1 hiking boot -- preferred.
1 steel toed work boot -- sometimes needed, always nice, and almost never handy, lol.

So yea, technically I have three shoes to choose from. 10sec tops to choose :P

I just want one purse though, a silly denim hobo bag ... just slightly customized. *looks innocent*

But meh.

I have no idea why you would want tons of shoes... *wink* my weakness is jewelry, something of which you simply cannot have too much of... But shoes? Meh, I don't even like half of the styles ;)

Okay, so truthfully, I probably have 5 pairs of shoes... but that's more because I haven't thrown the old ones out than that I hoard shoes. I have 2 pairs of skate shoes, 2 pairs of Nike running shoes, and a pair of nice leather shoes for job interviews, etc. But apart from those rare job interviews, I just wear the newer pair of Nikes. They're gray & black, and match pretty much everything I wear (which, granted, is just T-shirts and blue jeans). That way I don't have to worry about anything but what shirt I'm going to wear (and that's usually a choice of black or other). And purses? Don't even get me started.

...although I can understand the jewelry thing... I have way too many earrings, but with 7 ear piercings, I kind of need them all.

Guy's shoes are way boring - I mean, look at the display space given to mens shoes versus women's in the stores and catalogs.

Women's shoes are so much more varied and interesting and actually flatter the foot instead of hiding it.  Of course that means you should take care of those puppies with soap and moisturizer and pumice, etc,  now and again (if ya don't and you're M2F bad feet can clock ya faster than a bass voice, imo, even if they're size 7½).

I have more women's shoes than my wife (she's envious that I can wear heels and she can't) but I still have way too few!

A girl can never have enough shoes.  I have two closets full of them, and yes I wear each pair.  It would be nice to be able to afford to have a pair for each outfit, but i think Gill would draw the line.  But heck a girls just gotta look good.

Haha. Actually, I like shoes. I don't go crazy and I pretty much only wear skate/tennis shoes. No sandals. I mainly have lots of different colors of chuck taylors. Truthfully, though, I only ever wear the black ones. Lately I've been wearing my DC's - they make me look taller.

LoL,  I really dont know, and I even dont get it totaly.... but then again Im a punk so style and fashion in the normal sence go out the door right there.

For guy mode, I have my Ripped chucks, my non ripped chucks, my steel toe work boots and my dress shoes...... (Note the boots and shoes are black, and the chucks have red lining and red and black laces)

For myself, Ive got a pair of sencable 2 inch heels, a pair of ankle boots with a 3 inch heel, a pair of FMB's with 3 inch heels (I hardly wear any of those LoL) My chick chucks, my custom vans, my extra tall combat boots with 2 inch heel, and my goth boots..... <Accept for the chucks and vans there all black>

Maby its that I allready know what I want when I go shopping and want to get out of the store as fast as possable.  People in stores annoy me to no end.... get in get what you need and get out.....

Same goes for clothes, purses and so on....

I think its a habit born of antisocial natures and never having the money to get other than what I came for.  *shrugs*  We'll see what happens in the future if and when I actualy have some disposable income LoL

Well, for me I want to have enough shoes so I can wear all the different outfits I have, but at the same time, I'm not as obsessed with shoes as some girls here.  Honestly though, I've only worn 2 different pairs of shoes since going fulltime.  My sandals and some heels.

Blasphomer!!!!

Just kidding.

Shoes are like a mood ring.  I pick out shoes not only to fit my outfit, but also my mood.  I simply love shoes.  I am like Carrie in Sex and the City, I could never have too many shoes.

Love always,

Let's see there are my office dress shoes that I wear on days I do not think I will be crawling under desks or through ceilings.
Then about three or four pairs of sneakers.
Chunky dress shoes (low leather shoes mounted on what is basically boot tread)
Strappy heels, one pair, black
Flats, one pair, brown
Then my leather boots that I will wear to work but I usually wear them for leather/fetish events.

There would be more but I have been rather broke lately.

Quote from: CindiMy boss can be a real bitch though.

Tell her if she doesn't give you a raise you'll quite :D

I'm so bad for shoes though.  I have shoes in the garage for wearing in the garden, and I have 4 pairs of shoes that I keep at work for emergencies.  I also keep my ridding boots in the truck along with a spare pair of shoes for just in case :)  Yep I'm the poster child for shoe-aholics anonymous :D.
