Steph

Definitely milestones to be recorded for all time.  Belated as it maybe, congratulations Wendy. Name changes are hard at the best of times but to do it at the workplace and survive shows character and resolve, no matter what.  You're definitely some kinda woman.

Thanks Steph  :), I dont know that I'm some kind of woman, lol, just simply a woman. Having the weekend off from work extended because of the Holiday it has given me the opportunity to pause and reflect on many issues. The blessings versus the pain of not being able to be yourself, the hurdles I still face, so many different questions. What amazes me is that I am so much more comfortable now.

I was sitting at my kitchen table a bit ago and looking at a bouquet of Roses that my Daughter had recieved for Valetines Day. I have always been struck by the beauty of a Rose. I thought about it awhile and came to the conclusion that we a so very much like a Rose, strong but delicate, slow to open but when done, beautiful in its own right, protective with its thorns in allowing others to approach and something that means many things to many people. I think we are like Roses, waiting to bloom and take our rightful place, from bud to flower, a beautiful and slow progress, albeit a painful one.

That was very beautiful, Wendy.  And so descriptive of our journeys. It is no wonder that I love roses and I will never look at one the same way again.

:) Today I became legally Wendy Catherine! All my worrying and fretting was for nothing, the Judge asked two questions. What my age was and whether I had given this thought, of course the answer was yes. He then smiled and said "I grant this request,  congratulations Wendy" YES!!!

I also got my Drivers lic renewed as my Birthday is the 16th Feb and the guy added the Female tag without me saying anything. Everyone was so nice, its all so very hard to believe yet. The Soc was changed also but I coulnt get the F tag until I get a Surgery letter, but thats ok, I am Wendy anyway.
Love and Hugs Guys and Gals. Miracles do happen!

Congratulations Wendy! Do you mind if I ask what state are you in? I hope it's going to be as easy in NJ.  Thanks.

Thank you Gween, sending positive thoughts your way. Let your dream be realized and follow your heart always. Hugs

And thank you to you also Pong. I live in Illinois so I dont really know what NJ requires. I would reccomend doing a google search of your DMV and then looking up name change which is what I did.  Hugs

Congratulations! :)

You have to before a Judge to change your name? That's heavy, here in the UK anyone can change their name to anything whenever they want by deed poll for a very small fee. Did it two years ago because my documents all had different spellings on them and it was really the only way to sort the mess.

Thank you Imaz, I think it more rule here in the U.S. Most  States require an appearance before a Judge and each State sets its own requirements. The postings in the newspapers of your old and new names prior to the appearance while somewahat embarrasing was put in place long before transitioning persons and mainly done to allow creditors and other interested parties a chance to have input. Its mainly to prevent fraud and like most laws they do not take in extenuating circumstances when people are involved.

Miniar thank you also. Hugs to you both.

I'm shocked, that's heavy stuff. May you find great happiness and your dreams come true with your new name :)

Ms Bev

Congrats, Miss Wendy!

Like Steph said....workplace changes are the most challenging.
I know.  I've been there.

Thanks Bev, its always my pleasure to hear from you. So far everything has went amazingly smooth. More people are learning of it and I am really surprised that they are asking so many questions about transsexuality. I really never invisioned myself as an educator but it seems because of my inability to be stealth I find myself cast in that role also.  Hugs
