An ex girlfriend of mine was constantly trying to get me to watch the L word, and I'd heard it was like sex and the city....with lesbians. So I flatly refused xD

Now I'm tempted to watch it

IS it like sex and the city?

What is it about?

Jay,

Its about a kid in the 70's who is raised in a very religious family. He knows he is gay and the turmoil he goes through with his family (mainly his mom). I don't want to give away the whole show, but it is definitely a good movie dealing with the loss of family in ones life and the need to be oneself. Its on lifetime check it out.

The show is good for people to see. So is a movie I just watched on Lifetime, "Prayers for Bobbie" watch it if you haven't. I would like that movie to be shown to all everyone.

I forced my parents to watch that before I came out to them as trans even though it had nothing to do with being trans... it was kind of a scare tactic... "Look what will happen if you kick me out of the family!"

I was a reallly good movie, though.  If you guys/gals/people get a chance to watch it, I really enjoyed it and I think it really helped my parents.

I use to love the L Word but have recently been turned off by some of the stuff that is going on with Max.  The writters take everything that could go wrong with transitioning and write it into a script.  Don't get me wrong I still watch the L Word because I like the stories that go along with it but it really frustrates me the things they have Max go through.  Now granted aggression and what not is what can happen if you are taken such a high dose of T, and I think its great that they mentioned that he was getting it illegally and that was some of the things that could happen.  But Max is such a loner, like he is going through this transition with no support from anyone...all of the lesbians in the show don't really support him and it never shows him going to any groups (other that the one time) or have any FTM friends.  All of the FTM and MTF people I have ever met have supports behind them and they are involved in some sort of group or befriended another FTM or MTF.  Not to mention the whole pregnant thing...everyone know in the trans community that if you are on T for more than a years time you cannot get pregnant.  Also talking about T lets just say I hope I get facial hair as quickly as Max did.  However I hope my voice changes more than his has.  I know its just a tv show and they can only do so much with one persons voice, but I just think all and all it is poorly written and not taken into account the real things that go on in a trans persons life.  That so every single thing that could possible go wrong.  One more thing this last episode where Nikki said that the movie Boys Don't Cry was a complete lesbian movie...I was horrified and pissed off all at once.  I'm not even gonna get into that rant as I have already ranted enough.  Those are just my thoughts on the L Word I hope that I haven't mad anyone mad.
