I'm in need of your help

See I'm writing a series of book (fictional) dealing with the trans community and going through a transition and since I haven't personally done so, I am asking if you would mind helping. I don't want to misrepresent this community of amazing people.

I'd love it if you'd PM me your stories. All is kept in confidentiality so you can be as vague or detailed as you'd like. and publicly I'd love a discussion about dyphoria and how it effects you. I'd love for it to be described as best as possible.

I would love to answer some questions, however I would love to get a little information about you first?

How about a little background info?

Are you making creative fiction from a bunch of ideas, or are you using stories you heard on here and making it your own?

You can have mine, but are you really writing in "Stephen King" mode?

Okay, I'm 18 years old. I am an ex to a trans man and back when we were together I brought up how its makes me annoyed that there aren't many books (FICTIONAL books) that have trans characters and he totally agreed. I write in my spare time and I figured that hey, I'd have a go at it. So I've been doing research on websites and reading forums, but nothing is really helping me create characters. I'm hoping to bring at least 4 characters into exsistance. FTM MTF Inter and SO. I've got the SO part down, but I have no idea how to make the other characters REAL. I can't describe how they feel about them selves, how they moved past the bad parts of their lives or anything. I have only a bystanders POV. So, in order to do a good job and not misrepersent or anything, I am asking for stories from peoples lives and yeah I may use some bits from everyone, but maybe I wont use your story at all and any names will be fictional and not relate to anyone who participates. I just really want the characters to feel REAL and I don't want them to be JUST trans or Inter or SO, I want that to be a part of them, and I want to get that part right, but I want that fact to be something that the reader realizes maybe halfway through the book, you know? I dunno. Its really hard to explain and because I dont know enough personally to actually comme up with anything more than names... I dont have a plot yet for more than the SO. lol.

Just a bit of advice.. if you want your characters to be real, and you want their gender stuff to only be a 'part' of who they are, then don't design them based around the gender stuff.  You say you want 'one of each,' basically, but that's already elevating the gender stuff to a more important position than it should have if it will only be a 'part' of who they are- as it should.  It'll be obvious if you're only using your characters as a vehicle to display 'what gender dysphoria is like.'

So I suggest figuring out your characters first, and if any of them 'happen' to be trans, let that develop naturally.  It'll make a better and more authentic story, imo.

I noticed an interesting phenomenon between this thread and the other KCCBB posted asking FTMs for the same information. First, this thread has far fewer responses than the other. Given that women are supposed to be chattier, I find this interesting. Also, although most of the women on this thread said they were willing to share their stories, they also asked for more background before wanting to pour their hearts out. There are several guys who opened up right away on the other thread and didn't seem to question it. Again, the usual assumption is that women communicate and share more freely than men do.

I'm just wondering what's up with the seeming role reversal. Could it be that MTF women are more cautious because society at large seems to be less accepting of them? (That's just a personal observation and it may only be because I pay more attention to MTF-related issues.) Or maybe the guys just wanted to help out a pretty girl? 

Maybe there's no real reason for it. I just found it interesting.

I think we pour our heart out when we are comfortable with someone, and that is true of women, whether they are GG or TG, or whatever.  Guys seem to have no problem blabbing their stories to perfect strangers.  Especially if it involves beer and burping.

I noticed that too... which struck me as odd, but I have a few wonderful women who sent me their stories through PM and Email. If you'd like to share your story with me, I'd really appreciate it and I understand if you dont want it out for the entire world to see

Oh I can think of some pretty obvious reasons why that is true.  Heck, some of the reasons might even be right.
