I am 23 y/old MTF and I have yet to start hormones but will be doing so in the next month. I am grossly self-conscious about my history with acne and large pores. I have the worst skin ever, blotchy red skin with orange peel skin. It runs in my family unfortunatley.

I do rigorous cleansing using Dr.Brandt's pores no more. I know for a fact my large pores/acne stems from very oily skin.

I have heard that HRT will greatly change my oil production as well as shrink pores and reduce acne in MTF's.

Has anyone experienced this? how long did it take to notice changes?

Welcome hon.
Well, I'm ftm, but I definitely experienced the reverse. My pores are suddenly showing up. so it probably does the reverse in you.

I have been on hormones for ~7 months now.  My acne was all clear in 3 months, maybe less.  Originally I had terrible acne on my back, chest, and some on my face.

My pores have become smaller too.  I can't really see them unless I get close up to a mirror.

At 3 months, my pores are definitely smaller, my skin drier, and my complexion better. Laser has helped too, because of less shaving and fewer ingrown hairs. It's a substantial difference, but it's definitely not a cure-all.
All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.

HRT helped my skin a little, and it was noticable within the first month, but it was a consistent skincare routine that helped it the most. Everyone probably has different suggestions for that, but one thing that really helped heal my skin and repair the damage acne had done was using a really good moisturizer. I ordered mine through my laserplace, but you can order them online aswell.

There are buttons at the top of the page to change it to your locality. I wanted to post about this moisutizer ages ago because it is really helpful for after laser and IPL treatments and helps heal the damage that electro can sometimes do to your face.

I have had bright red weeping skin on my face from acne since I was little but this stuff really helped, plus it's a two birds with one stone kinda thing if you're going to have hair removal soon (though make sure to tell your hairgirl that your using it). I use the AVST2, which I can't seem to find on their site, but you're probably best to start with the Environ Original Moisture Gel. That's what I started on. It seems pretty expensive, but a very small amount will last you months because you don't need to use much.

Wow, that sounded like I was one of those door-to-door saleswomen that sell the cosmetics.  :D

Good luck with your skin and your upcoming HRT!   :)
