I didn't like West Side Story that much.  I think it's too sad for me.  I'd rather watch My Fair Lady or The Sound of Music.  I like my musicals happy.  :D

I saw Rent once. And Grease. Those are about the only musicals I've seen.
Nero was the Forum Admin here at Susan's Place for several years up to the time of his death.

Rent live is AMAZING.  The movie...I was disappointed, but I have the original soundtrack memorized, so yeah...I was biased.  Especially since it was the original cast for the most part!

From, The Devil Wears Prada

Miranda Priestly: This... 'stuff'? Oh... ok. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don't know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. You're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar De La Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St Laurent, wasn't it, who showed cerulean military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of 8 different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic casual corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of stuff.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

The World Unseen, great film dealing with Apartheid, racism, gender expression and sexual orientation.

Saw it last week and Lisa Ray is so, so hot...

I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

Since we're together, we might as well say,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?" - Fred Rogers

Anne of the Thousand Days.  I was about 8 when I saw it the first time.  First movie I ever fully identified with a female protagonist.  There are alot of versions of the Anne Bolynne story, and we'll never know what really happened.  Unlike almost everyone in the theater, I didn't know how it was going to end, and it broke my heart.  I highly recommend anyone get it from Netflix and watch it.
It's easier to change your sex and gender in Iran, than it is in the United States.  Way easier.

Please read my novel, Dragonfly and the Pack of Three, available on Amazon - and encourage your local library to buy it too! We need realistic portrayals of trans people in literature, for all our sakes

"Twelve Angry Men", 1957.

Brilliant.  Mostly shot entirely within a single jury room set, so no special effects or fancy scenery.  Just damn fine character acting.

The Bird People in China is probably my favorite foreign film (not animated)...and it's by Takashi Miike who does all those bloody yakuza movies...this one is absolutely beautiful, both the story and the scenery.  Not a bloody yakuza movie at all...

Oh, this is going to be easy...The first three Star Wars movies, The first three Indiana Jones movies, The Lord of the Rings (loved the books-they got me through high school and college lit classes).  :) ...now reading through all the listed movies...oh yeah- Shawshank Redemtion, Grease, The Blues Brothers, Castaway, (ok, this is not so easy :embarrassed:), Bladerunner, Sleepless in Seattle, The Lion King... The Green Mile...

Ok, guess it depends on my mood. I'll see a movie on TV this week and skip it, next week I'll watch it back to back on TNT. AMC or whoever is showing it back to back.

I saw "Rent" on Broadway in the 90s--it was awesome.  I cried and cried.

The Sound of Music is one of my favorites, I always cry at the song "I must have done something good".

Dances With Wolves--  I always cry at the end when Wind in his hair is calling praises down upon them as they leave the camp.
