"When I was younger" it was easy to find the right golf clubs.  If you're a man there are dozens of choices.  I got spoiled.

Now I have two major changes, aging and transitioning.

I walk into a golf store and put a pretty pink woman's driver in my hand and it's too short.  Besides the shaft is too whippy.  My present driver and 3W have stiff shafts but I can't hit them well anymore.  My other clubs are regular shafts.  3-6 irons are giving me trouble.  I've hit a 7 iron farther than a 5.  While I've lost distance in the longer clubs I'm about the same with the shorter clubs.  I recently hit a 9 iron 130 yards.

I'm totally confused!!!  I have no idea where I am and where to go. 

My fiance was playing with 30 year old clubs so I bought an Adams set for her.  (She thinks I bought them for myself.)  She's tall and stronger than most women her age but doesn't have great club head speed so I bought a men's iron set with senior shafts.  I figured that would be between women's and men's regular shaft flex.  I went out yesterday and tried them out (she was too busy to join me) and overall I hit them better.  Maybe I'm getting closer.  I don't know.  Club fittings frustrate me.

What this whole process has made me realize is transitioning brings on a lot more challenges than passing.     When it affects your golf game you have serious problems!!!

I beleive for enough money you get some custom made clubs. If that's not an option take up bowling instead. Water ballet is very femme. I do not reccomend rugby or hockey.

The funny thing is, when I was on the golf team in high school the majority of the girls on the team used Men's clubs. Not because they weren't suited for the female ones, however they found that by using the men's clubs they could hit a lot better. Our coach didn't care since they all did very well.

So hey, whatever you can hit better with, go for it. I don't think it matters so much.

When I was younger, I used my Mom's clubs.  And would play from the Woman's tee.  It just felt more natural.

I would suggest getting a set of women's clubs, set to you.

Just go out and buy some Adams hybrids and throw away your hickory shafted clubs! 

Go to a large golf shop and try out everything and then go home and give it some thought. Go back and hit the ones you liked the most, ask if you can demo them on the golf course.
Then there is always Ping. Ping has a custom fitting program to suit your swing and game or just steal the Adams.

I think Crypt77 has it right.  Don't limit yourself to women's clubs just because you are a woman. There is no rule that you must use women's clubs, use the clubs that best fit your body and if they happen to be mens' clubs then so be it.  Quite often manufactures see a market opportunity, put the word Women or Female in front of their product name and jack up the price.

Use what you are good with.

Why don't you keep the individual clubs that are working well for you and just replace the ones that aren't? Who said they all had to be a set? Sure, sets are cheaper per club, but if you're not replacing all the clubs what does it matter?

Why not rugby? I had a fling with a female rugby player and all I can say is yum! LOL There are even female football (as in American football vs what they call soccer here) teams popping up and ummm, yum!
