if you would like a higher chance that EVERYONE attending a support area will follow the laws of common decency and respect (at least outwardly), your best chance might be at a real-life, in-person TG/TS/SOFFA support group, if you have access to one.

Agreed, and it better for a lot of other reasons, not just the stated one.

*my* comment was ignorant?  By saying that a group full of transpeople will probably take offense to being referred to as their assigned sex?  No, I think the person who referred to transpeople that way is ignorant.

I never denied the fact that she was ignorant.  However being ignorant isn't always a bad thing. Ignorant, means to lack knowledge in a certain subject.  In that respect she is very ignorant, however, she wants to change that and that's what matters.

Your comment was also ignorant AND rude.  You stated that she should know the basics, however that comment is ignorant to the fact that "the basics" as you stated are not BASIC to anyone who has not been there before.  It is extremely rude to be overly defense against someone who is trying to learn, just as it is to say they deserve it.

If your partner says to you, "Honey, I know I look like a lady, but I want to be a dude.  Please call me by this dude name and refer to me as a dude." then that's pretty damn clear.  I am not going to change my view and think that someone making name/pronoun mistakes is just silly and misguided.  They are ignorant.  Period.

I've found the Republican platform for the next election.

Your entirely missing the point, on purpose it would seem.  Like I said, I never disagreed that she was ignorant, however your being quite rude.

Rude? By saying someone who is offensive deserves to be told that they are?   I could care less what your opinion of me is.  Now please contribute to the thread or leave me alone.

*rolls eyes* My god you just don't get enough do you?  The whole point of this thread is that Landon's girlfriend has done nothing specifically to be offensive and yet random idiots are chewing her a new ->-bleeped-<-.  If you wish to continue stating rude comments and views in harmony with what has PO'd Landon in the first place, then it is you who is not contributing to this thread.

I'll state it once more.  Yes, Landon's girlfriend is/was ignorant on terminology used on forums such as these, but that is no reason to take offense much less bash someone who is trying to learn.  I mean, cisgendered?  I don't even know what that word means, so I highly doubt she does and why would anyone use a word that they didn't know the meaning?  That would truly be stupid.  Both Landon and his girlfriend need support, and rude comments like the ones they have been receiving as well as your own are far from being supportive.  Saying someone deserves being beaten down is no better then doing the actual beating and helps no one.  So in your own words, "contribute [something positive] to the thread, or leave [us] alone."

QuoteNow, there are a lot that have been able to help her, but the others that have lashed out for her misuse of pronouns

I'm not sure if you've got low enough self esteem to be cool w/ people calling you by the wrong pronouns, but IT'S OFFENSIVE.

Enough name calling for now.

This thread is locked to give time for people to calm down.

Alright, alright, everybody calm down.  Obviously everyone has different opinions about what the line between offensive and not offensive is, but can we aim for some mutual respect here?
