Just remembering looking out the window, seeing objects fly from miles away past the window. Remembering the roof cave in and water flow in like a facet running. Looking up in the sky, seeing the sky go by faster than I have ever seen, almost like in a jet airplane. And the sound of multiple tornados, destroying the neighbors house and buildings around. The sound of elder family, crying and praying as windows shook ready to explode. ..... Going outside , seeing the roof ripped off, exposed, trees fallen, roads blocked, no power, water, tv, phone, radio, for days and days.


Counted 7 trees on the house, and big hole in roof from one spearing it.

Tree that destoyed our deck, also hit the corner near our bedroom.

Curved tree here, has a full tree resting on it making the smaller one curve, tree is ready to snap and required immediate removal. You can see the big one in the first picture above, going from the carport corner of the house onto it.

Katrina was horror beyond words. 

Even though the levies have been rebuilt to pre-Katrina levels, it means nothing!  Some engineers are concerned that, based on what they now know, the levy system may not hold up to the Cat 3 it was designed for.  To redo the levy system so it could withstand a Cat 5 could cost upwards of a hundred billion dollars.  THat's a lot of scratch.

We should be thanful for the windsheer that has prevented the storms from forming this year.

It appears now that Katrina may not have been the cause of New Orleans flooding at all. Read this interesting report with videos that the government...  WOW! just isn't denying.

Katrina hadn't hit with full force yet when they started to break, besides the levees had been leaking for at least a year. Also the levees were NEVER overwhelmed by high water, in fact the water on them wasn't much higher than normal. They just gave way as you will see. As I said the government isn't denying this, and in fact the Army Corp of Engineers have now said as much.

It appears that this was going to happen anyway sooner or later (the Army Corp now admits this), and Katrina may have been the proverbial straw that broke the camels hump, but it so could high tides or winds. In fact if the levees were probably going to give way anyhow, Katrina may have saved tens of thousands of lives by shagging most of the people out.
