I take metformin as a diabetic medicine.  It did little or nothing for me in terms of fat distribution.

I would also like to warn non-diabetic people about the fact that taking this drug can cause dangerous drops in blood sugar that can be life threatening, along with placing extra strain on liver function.  As with any modern drug, a medical professional needs to be consulted to prescribe and monitor its effects on your system.

Metformin is not usually considered an HRT drug but when discussing its use as part of a gender transition the discussion it will fall under rule #8:

8. The discussion of hormone replacement therapy(HRT) and it's medications are permitted, with the following limitations:

      A. Advocating for or against a specific medication or combinations of medications for personal gain is strictly prohibited.
      B. Discussing the means to acquire HRT medications without a prescription, and self medication without a doctors care is prohibited.
      C. Discussing dosages is strongly discouraged to prevent information obtained on this site from being used to self medicate.

We can not in good conscience condone the self administering of these medications. Not only may self medication be illegal, but HRT medications can cause serious health problems, and many have the potential for life-threatening side effects that can only be detected and prevented with proper medical supervision.

Thanks, Emelye!  This is my situation as well.  You may read about how safe this drug is, but please don't be fooled.  I personally know of others who have had terrible reactions to Metformin.  I did, too before I got smarter with my diet.  Just not worth it if you don't need it!

I have been on Metformin for Type 2 Diabetes for about 3 years (have been on HRT for MANY more!) and noticed no change with the Metformin.

Some medications may kill you slowly but Diabetes drugs can kill you QUICK! Don't fool with them!
