Okay, I know I am strange and always have been, but I am wondering just how strange I may be?

When I was in my 20's and had been studying martial arts for many years, when I realized that I could not remember ever having a bruise. I have been much more conscious of this since then. No matter what I've done, I have never had a bruise anywhere on my body. This along with my GID had led me to the conclusion (supported by suspicions of friends) that I mustn't be human, I must be some kind of alien. Okay, so I have known that it was unlikely that I was some kind of Venusian. But, the fact that I couldn't bruise, combined with my obvious inability to understand what it was like to be a 'man' even though my body was clearly one and my feeling of identifying more with the girls (though not accepted as one - because of the obvious 'male' body) made me wonder what the heck I was if I wasn't an alien.

Has anyone else experienced this? or do you know of any reason why I don't bruise?

I am also wondering if, after I'm on HRT for some time, I will start to bruise? I know that women experience changes in the texture or their skin. It thins out and becomes smoother and more sensitive along with the development of a subcutaneous fat layer. I also know that women are more susceptible to bruising than men. Just wondering if I will become more 'normal' with HRT or if I'm destined to remain an alien spy. :)

um, one of the possible side effects of high dose estrogen therapy is spider veins...
You could always ask for the newest nurse to draw your blood when you go in for labs if you really want a bruise.

My favorite cousin is named Deanna, I think it's a pretty name for an earthling.

I almost never bruised either.

As you get older you likely will regardless of sex.

Certain medications can cause bruising.  When I was on Coumadon I would bruise if a fly landed on me.

But now I no longer bruise.

i bruise easier since hrt, but the weirld thing is they take on a yellowish hue starting from the outer edges & working its' way in b4 the bruise goes away. that's just my personal expirience, which has never seemed to quantify on any level or time. if ur crazy, than i'm truely screwed! (((hugs from "out there")))! Isabella ps. you make more sense than most!

Deanna, you crack me up. Fly, be free!!! >splat<

Here's an observation from the other side of the fence.

I used to be a serious banana and bruised very easily. And I had a habit of slamming into things and really earning those bruises. Now...not so much. Not so much bruising, I mean. I had a big bruise on my chest after surgery, but I haven't really noticed much bruising lately. I still slam into things. I just don't seem to bruise much. Guess I'm toughening up and "becoming a man." So maybe you will slowly embrace bananadom as you transition.
