Remember a few months back, when I was all whining and cringing and being a bit dramatic about the "1 year RLE" requirement in Iceland?
Well now.

I've been in Rvk for a couple of days now, seeing the people involved in the transition process in Iceland (a gyno, a psychiatrist, and second meeting with psychologist.. missed the speech therapist though but there's not that much she can do for me anyway so I'm fine with that) and been taking tests and jumping through hoops and literally bleeding for my transition's sake (trying to get it "started").

Well, the gyno was terrifying, but went well. The guy likes me and considers me "sane, serious and rational".
The psychiatrist was chatty and bubbly, and all I did was take tests, and she was polite and used all male pronouns, so she seems to be cool with me.
And the Psychologist is a little weird (has a little tick with his leg, it's amusing to watch), but he's chatty, takes me seriously, and appears to like me a bit too...

Long story short, I just got back from the last meet (psychologist) and he basically told me that the next time I come down to Reykjavík (mid nov or mid dec) I can start the T.

... Obviously.. I'm bouncing off the walls at the moment.

Just this little gesture, and a ton's been lifted.

the Psychologist is a little weird

This made me lol. There is actually a class where they teach us to be wild eyed and weird, it's a therapist thing. I think it's more tradition than practical, but I dunno, I'm still new. Congrats again, do you think your'e ready for the self injecting or are you going to go to the clinic for a while?

I'll do it myself tyvm!
^^ I'll freak out and be all whimpers and "what the ->-bleeped-<- was I thinking!" for an hour, but then I'll do it and be all "that wasn't a big deal!"

And the weirdness is.
He sits "sideways" on his chair, pulls his knees up a little bit, and then pets and pats his thigh repeatedly. Like it were a cat, or a dog even.
It's.. weird.

knowing I have a "narrow" system that's denied a few ppl transition and has stict and really slow rules, I was terrified I'd get a no, or a "need to wait longer" or "let's do this first" or something.. anything.. that means that the 1year rle drags on and on without getting the physical transition stuff started at all..

Being told, more or less, that I can just show up next month and I'll get the thing I've been dreaming of for years.. it's a huge relief and a yay moment.

.. it may seem like a "lot" or irrational even, but I feel like I just got told that I'm cancer free or something after years of struggling with stuff.

not irrational at all. it is a cure in a way.

Sound like OCD -- a kind of ablution ritual to smooth out uneven touches. Not really uncommon, but weird.

Congratulations on your progress!

OMG indeed! That's awesome news! And just the promise of HRT was enough to brighten up my life, so I know exactly what you mean there. Even though we already know what we need, it's really great when that is confirmed by the people who can provide it. Congratulations!

My thought exactly!
Awesome xmas present...
and getting the "okay" is an awesome birthday present too...

I almost feel spoiled!

(and yep, I think it may be ocd, though he only does it while we're talking, so it's "situational" behavior and doesn't appear to be a thing that would interfere with his life so it's just "weird")
